Dusted Vettes

Couple of weeks ago, my son and his family came for a visit. They arrived on Saturday, and on Sunday the local Corvette club held an autocross. They were in need of raising some money, so they threw open the event to non-vettes as well. Now the Sky was running on street tires. Good street tires, but street tires none-the-less. ZO-6 Corvettes only out weigh us by about 150 lbs, but have 245 more horsepower. They also run wider wheels which means wider tires, more lateral traction, etc. Additionally, most were running Hoozier R compounds in 315/35s. I did faily well, and actually beat one ZO-6 outright. Granted, probably the slowest of the ZO-6s, but I also clobbered several of the other non-ZO-6 Vettes (the power challenged ones with only 350 to 400 horsepower). And my son was right behind me. At one point my son was over by the score board and overheard "Those guys do this all the time. That's why they're so fast." Now understand, the 20 mile drive from my house to the event was the first time my son ever touched the car. They never posted the results on their web site.

Little Nash Rambler

Reminds me of that song,
"Little Nash Rambler" ... you know ... the Cadillac was with a little Nash Rambler on his tail blowing his horn to pass. And when the Cadillac could not go any faster ... the little Nash Rambler passes and yells "How do you get this out of second gear?"

That's a funny story. And them thinking that you were some sort of expert drivers is even funnier. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
