Heel/Toe?

Anybody find a way to successfully heel/toe in their Sky? I'm having a difficult time doing it since the brake pedal is so much higher than the gas. I haven't checked to see if it's possible to adjust the height of the brake pedal yet.
I haven't had ample time to try as I'm still breaking the car in. My Evolution had a perfect pedal setup for this. I have fairly wide 12" feet so it's usually a struggle in most cars for me.

Actually, I find that the Evo positions suck for me in the heat of battle. I can do what I call "pretend heel/toe downshifting" around town all day long, but when I get on the track in an Evolution, the brake pedal travels way too far for me at near-full braking.

Conversely, in the Solstice/SKY, it is more difficult to do "pretend heel/toe downshifting", precisely because of the height of the brake pedal.

However, the only time you REALLY need to do heel-toe downshifting is when you are braking, at the end of your braking, where you quickly push-clutch-select-gear-blip-throttle-release-clutch-finish the last 1% of your braking and get back on throttle.

And 98% of the time you need to do this, it's in a competitive environment, where you need to do a smooth downshift at the end of a braking zone (else why would you need to have your foot both on the brake AND the throttle?). And, if you're doing that, you're at 90% braking - and THIS is where the Solstice/SKY do very well for heel-toe. If you stomp the brakes coming down from a 4th gear straight into a 3rd gear turn, the pedal is darn near perfect spot for heel-toe. I feel (IMHO) it's a bit better than a Corvette, actually.

But 'around town' there's no real need to do this.

Ill have to agree w/ KappaMan on this one. Even though the brake pedal seems high, when youre actually on the brakes the pedals are almost dead even.

I really enjoy driving a little heel-toe in our RL. Although, it's really hard to do in my flip-flops. :P

Seriously though, I think I'd agree with KappaMan some, that the pedal feels like a perfect positioning when the brakes are almost fully depressed. I do wish that the pedals were a little farther apart though, as it seems like the gas pedal is really close to the center console, and my toe sometimes tends to catch, since my foot is at an angle.

I agree 100%. The pedals are PERFECT for me. I think the brake pedal drops to the perfect position when I'm braking and need to downshift. I hate when some cars have the brake pedal drop lower than the gas under braking. Then I have to lift my foot up and over the gas pedal instead of blipping it with the side of my foot. It took me a while to do it right in my Mazda. I got it right in the Sky in a day.

heel / toe dance?

we call it clogging around these parts... and there is just no where close to enough room to do it in my RL....

I've always had to adjust the way I do it a little just because my feet are large and wide. Ideally for me the pedals are set up so I can use the left half of my foot on the brake and the right half on the gas. My 12" feet have trouble contorting at an angle. I guess I could try my heel on the brake and toes on the gas. Might work. Opposite of the normal method but I'll give it a shot.

Really, I never use my heel at all during heel/toe unless the car has floor mounted pedals. Maybe its just me but I always use the right side of my foot on the gas and the left side on the brake.

Same here except on certain cars it doesn't seem to work too well. Depending on how far the pedals are apart and what not. Feels awkward for me doing it in the sky due to the brake pedal being so high. It might be adjustable I just haven't gotten under and looked. But I'm guessing not since nobody has mentioned that yet.

Trying it reverse style was dumb. Way too awkward and doesn't work well.

I watched the way I was driving today purposely to answer this.

It seems I never use my heel when I am driving at all. And I found myself useing the ball of my foot and my toes to push in the clutch. I think that is more of a Pointe Dancer thing that is something I have always done. Now for the gas peddal I do use that flat footed but my heel still doesn't touch. Hummmm....
