Good you gave them some grief about chickening out on ya! The 5.0 may give you some trouble, but again it always comes down to the driver. Best of luck to ya, I can't wait to see the results. Any plans to video the race(s)?

So you have an automatic 2.4 it turns out? Have you run before at the track? Aside from the suspension in your signature what all is on the car right now performance wise?

I don't see you beating the Mustang honestly. Maybe the Torino but that's really up in the air.

The car is stock all the way around because I am saving up for the s/c and such so I thought why spend money on something that I will end up taking off and selling.

Whatever you do don't race for money. In a stock 2.4 you're gonna get SMOKED!!! by either car. You'd have a good chance in a Redline. Be safe and have fun.

Sweetie I have a 2.4 and I had a 5.0 Mustang unless the guy just flat out can't drive and sits there and doesn't launch till after you have passed the finish I can't see this turning out so well for you.

There's just no way a stock 2.4 Sky is going to beat a stock Mustang 5.0 from 1980-1994... unless the Mustang is in really crappy condition. If you think otherwise, you're just plain delusional.

The 5.0 mustang debut in 1985 302 Windsor 4.9 Liter 210 Hp and in 1987 it was boosted to 225 hp. doesn't look good.
What the heck maybe he'll choke. There's always the human factor

the 460 4V 384 and the 351 are the only engines that has more than you in HP stock in the Torinos. and that car weighs from 500 to 1200 Lbs more than the sky. You have pretty good odds of whipping this one.

351 4V Cleveland = 246 Hp
460 4V = 219 Hp

Appears he is woosening out.. Nobody likes to be called a chickenshlt That appears to have re-kindled the challenge.. If 5.0 Mustang vs 2.4L Sky, no contest, unless the 'tang driver asleep at the wheel.. You'll see him cross first. Your only advantage if any is weight, iffen he's a BIG fat guy you have a bettor chance,...
PS: put the top up... It'll happen quick...

There might be a few out there I've seen GT's in the 15's so the 2.4 might have a chance? But most GT's are high 13-14 sec cars.

My stock RL went 14.0 @ 97mph with a 2.0 sixty ft. A RL would have a much better chance.

My bad, I thought he had a R/L, a 2.4 could have some problems. Although I owned a 2.4 I never ran it a the strip, so I am unfamiliar with launch characteristics.

Well I did a little research and the Tarino and the mustang both have a 302. I have never been down a track thats why I am going to see what its like. I plan on just having fun and what ever becomes of it is what it is. My friend with the Tarino is not very good at using the tree he likes to drop it into low and then shift up so he could very easily miss a gear and if he does it I think his brother will do the same so I may have that working for me to. I have been using so physiology on him giving him the ego bust telling him "oh yeah I don't think I have a chance and your car is way faster than mine" so maybe he wont try as hard.

Unbelievable yet again he is backing out but he has an excuse so I will let him off on this one and so my partner also is not going to make it so we are on hold again I am beginning to think that we may never make it to the track. I would go but it would be know fun to just go by myself.

Actually it would be a lot of fun just to get practice and seat time by yourself.

You really should go and give it a shot so there's that much less you'll have to relearn when you do actually go again.
