New shocks for A Stock Kappa

Here are some previews for my A Stock setup. These are the first set of shocks we are testing. I am using the stock springs and tophat to stay stock legal, but once the testing is done, they will be making a full coilover kit with stiffer springs an aluminum tophat that matches the bottom. The adjustment and quality is unreal. It has 16 settings that are adusted by turning knob on top of shaft. Swaybars are in the works and the quaility is just as good as these shocks. I will post more pics once everything is installed. Hope to test them next weekend if all goes well.

They are a nice setup and very well made top notch construction the only thing I didn't/don't like is that they are very stiff even with the setting all the way soft although some of that has to do with the fact I am running 35 series tires I do think they could have had a little better spring rate for the springs so it would have a little nicer ride I am not sure what the feel would be like if I was running stock tires and rims I also have the car lowered I like the stance much better I think that the car needs to be a little bit aggressive If you plan on getting a set of adjustables and are planning on the diy thing then make sure you have two jacks to work with it will make for a much nicer and easier install. They didn't send any instructions with the shocks I was one of the first and maybe only sky/sol to have them so I think they forgot to put them in the box. Gravana called me later and was asking what I thought of them and that was the first thing I told him. I think that DAYWALKER has a good thing with the stock spring and adjustable coil I think that would be a perfect match.

Thanks! I may wait for them to make my decision The roads here I don't think are as good as where you are at. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to lower the car very much. I already have to watch pretty close to keep from bottoming out the front of the car but I would like to take some of the mush out of the rear end with better sway bars and adjustable struts

mushhh

Gadget I would strongly recommend that you then go with the springs that come with the shocks they are very stiff and will make a big difference in the mush.

I don't hire mechanicsMaybe a machinist from time to time.

It's bothering me to let them touch it to fix the differential and thats under warranty.

I know what you mean I can't bring myself to going to the dealer to have the many things that need to be done under warranty done I just know they will f up the car and piss me off for whatever. Well when you get them make sure you have 2 jacks or a big block of wood to allow you to remove the sway bars

Well I have everything together and got to drive it for the first time today. I can tell you even with the stock springs it stiffened up the ride considerably set on 6. The transitional response is much improved. The car is tighter and flatter on steady state curves as well. Appears to more neutral but will need more testing in a controlled environment to be sure. The tires are much better at maintaining contact with the road. So far I am very pleased. I will be testing different settings to get a feel for the impact of each change. I should have more feedback in two weeks.

Well here is my update on the Dixie Tour. I can tell you that Nationals is a whole different world, but a lot of fun. I was about 3 thousands out of the last trophy postion on day one and on day two that was extend to 3 tenths. I ended up the first non trophy spot in AS.

The new suspension did great, the car is much faster and I now need to get used to the new found grip. I met a guy with a GXP ZOK package that was super cool and it appears my alignment might still be too conservative. He ended up 3 tenths behind me. We shot the bull all weekend and had a goodtime trying to chase the last trophy spot. At one point I was as high as third, but then I dropped quickly. Such is Nationals.

Overall I was very satisfied for my first Nat Tour and my shakedown run on my suspension. I will be doing the front bar soon and got some great pointers from Justin and Pete who were out on course while I was driving. After reviewing video....I have found that I was way too far out on the cones and need to close that gap ASAP. I am sure I lost a lot of time there.

The course flowed well and the lot was huge. I got into 3rd gear twice the first day and three times the second day. Thanks to everyone that helped keep me company at the first event.....I had a great time.

Sounds like you had fun, regardless of position. Good for you!
What is the new hot alignment that you are looking at? I will be going in for one soon! I would like to know what to ask for.
For a G-stock perspective…this is from Per; he usually claims PAX FTD at our events (and a very nice guy)

Update on the shocks....

I ran my first local autocross since the installation of the shocks and running at Dixie. Second time in the car and I am starting to sort out my driving. The car has a much higher threshold. Now that I have had a chance to run against people I normally run with I can say that the shocks have definitely made the car faster. I ended up with FTD and FTP today. I still need to work on my driving ( I know....who doesn't) but I can honestly say it is a significant improvement over the stock shocks. The car reacts much quicker and I have dialed out almost all of the understeer. Transitions are actually very fun and not painfull at all. Very satisfied with my choice.
