Question about Friday Night at ATCO Raceway
So this Friday a friend and I are planning on going to ATCO raceway in New Jersey for the open Friday night. I was hoping to do the 1/4 mile although I understand there are regulations requiring a roll bar for vehicles under a certain time.
Somebody here wrote that they were able to race down the strip once but that was about it. Does anybody else here have any insight onto what I should know? Anybody else here been to ATCO with their SKY or even Solstice? Will I be able to go down more than once provided my time doesn't go over the minimum? I just don't want to waste a trip all the way out there. Thanks !

I plan on going this Friday. I am taking off so my friend and I are going to try and arrive first thing when they open at 4:30pm. He's taking his Mitsubishi Evo. I was just worried they were going to give me a hard time about the whole roll bar issue. But, I was confused because there are many others here and over on the other forum that have 1/4 mile times.

nah, they won't bother you until you start getting in the low 13's for a roll bar. They will however make you purchase a proper helmet if you break 13.999 though. 14.000 and higher you can use those rental helmets, anything quicker, and they'll force you to buy a better helmet if you want to run again. I've been looking for a helmet of my own, because I figure with my mods, I should be in the high 13's as it is. Depending on the day, i'll try to come along. Raceway Park would be a little easier for me, but i've been meaning to swing by atco just once to try it out. Raceway park gets pretty darn crowded on test n tune nights.

Fast enough that I'd bring a helmet so you don't have to go hom eearly if you run really well.
I thought verts running faster than 13.99 had to have a bar? I think a helmet requirment is at 14.999 for verts isn't it? For us hardtops I know it's 13.99 for a helmet and 11.499 for a bar. I'd call the track and see what their official stance is on that stuff.

Here Some Info
A seat is mandatory in all cars, A 3" driver restraint system meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory in all cars running 11.49 & quicker and in convertables 13.49 or quicker and all dune buggy types.
Driver's in cars running 13.99 seconds or quicker and all dune buggy types running 14.00 and slower are required to wear a helmet meeting SNELL 95 or SFI 31.2, 321.2, 41.1, or 41.2 specs. A driveshaft loop is required on all car's running 13.99 seconds or quicker, except vehicles running 13.00 and slower equipped with street tires. A roll bar is required on all cars running 11.00 to 11.49 and in convertibles running 11.00 to 13.49 and all dune buggy type vehicles running 12.00 & slower. See NHRA Rule book for more info. This is straight from NHRA rulebook, any sanctioned NHRA track will require this. However there are some tracks that will be somewhat liberal. I am running tomorrow, my I plan to hit high 10's/low 11.00's. Got my Drag Radials on and should hook nicely Gonna get a harness in Scarlett soon, having a Line Lock installed this winter, and gonna add a cam also. Scarlett will be ready for her spring debut at PINKS All Out in March Any one interested in a good helmet I got one from Summit. Great place for gear, got my fire retardant pants, jacket and shoes at a great price. The shoes are great for driving, very comfortable. I hope the info was of help

Nice run Ernest! Just got to work on dropping that 60' some. I can pull off a 1.7 with DRs and FWD...I know that beast can do better.
Now if I can just get my times that low. ![]()
