Race Newb Question
Enjoyed reading this thread, but I have never raced or been to a track, so got a novice question here.
Robotech when you say that you "slip the clutch" what are you actually doing? Guessing...bring the RPMs up and letting your clutch foot slide off the pedal, is that right? I mean, instead of lifting your foot off, you are letting the clutch pedal bang out?

"slipping the clutch" referrs to when you slowly engage the clutch in any gear. You can feel a gradual acceleration and also feel the clutch catch more and more until it is fully engaged. You can also actually feel the clutch plates slipping over the pressure plates. This is good for smooth starts and even acceleration, HOWEVER, this slipping puts friction and heat on your clutch, and will wear it more quickly than a quicker shift. There is a happy medium in the middle of the two, and that's pretty much where most people stay for normal everyday driving.

Did 20+ track passes today with CAI and magnaflow. Lots of 14.0, 14.1, 14.2 at 98-99 mph.(manual trans) 1 100mph pass. Track prep wasnt great, 60' were in the 2.2 range and it was hot hot hot outside. Car definetly has 13 second potential in the future.

Just out of curiousity, what was your launch method, and what rpms did you shift for 2nd, and 3rd, and f4th gears. Thanks

I left at 4000-4500 rpms and slightly slipped the clutch out. Got to find the sweet spot between traction and wheelspin without bogging the engine down. Track was slippery, but it worked okay. I shifted at redline (62-6300)
