Big scratch
Today is a very cold and windy day, i came from work just an hour ago and i don't yet know how, a plate was taken by the wind probably from the building near mine and broke with a result one piece of the plate hit the car and made a big scratch, like someone scratched it hard with a knife. The colour of the car is black and the scratch is beneath the colour, i can see the white underneath and it's deep too as i can feel it with my hand as i touch it.Any idea what to do?Is there something you put and it doesn't show?I painted my garden door black 1 week ago and there was some paint left so i took a toothpick, plunged the edge of it into the black colour and crossed the scratch.....did i do wrong?I puniked when i saw the scratch, it's not even a month since i recieved the car....Here's a picture to notice the scratch.
Any solution????Please, whatever help would be valuable!!!! |

OUCH !!Take it to either an auto paint shop OR to a detailer that is trained, qualified, & certified to do scratch repairs. A good scratch repair done on a new car should not noticeable.

Ask for references and see if you can talk to owners of cars they have done.

See post #7. Automotive Detailing Basics, by turbomangt
Also contact your opel dealer and get a bottle of touch up paint from them for your car. Using your house/door paint was a mistake in my opinion and will probably show the damge more. Read the threads posted above, and the one I posted and fix it best as you can with the right paint & tools. If you can't do it, let a professional do it at your dealership..

I had a long scratch in the hood of my Red Line from a branch of a potted plant that blew over in a wind storm while I was parked at a hotel. You could feel it with your fingernail and I took it into a body shop. The scratch was too deep to be buffed out so it had to be sanded and the hood was repainted. The body shop did a perfect job, and the bill was $1100.
![]() I paid only my deductible, but had to make three round trips to the body shop (40 miles one way) to get the estimate, to drop off the car and then to pick it up. ![]()

![]() Man it looks like to me your Sky is destined to be damaged again IF and When one of those flower pots gets knocked over the side and onto your car. Look what a food plate did, can you imagine the damage if one of those pots fell on your car? BLASPHAMY..![]() If I were you, I would stop/park my Sky just BEFORE that part on the ledge with the red flower pot. That way, if one them falls down, it'll get shattered on the concrete and not your car...

I searched a lot and finally concluded to that one. These stores do very professional job and they won't risk their reputation by telling me crap or risk try to fix it and make it worse. He told me i can go to others too and ask but anyone who tells me that 'it can be fixed' he'll be lieing just to take money and do permanent job that after some time it will be crap again....However, i thought about getting another opinion so maybe i'll keep searching....Thanks!
