Cheap detail
I got a call from a guy who owns a black 04 Corvette and he said he brought the car to a local detailer and when he got the car home and saw it in the sun it had swirls and halograms all over it. When he brought me the car it was obvious that they used a high speed rotary buffer (a mortal sin). when the guy called the detail shop and complained they said thats how its suppose to look, I could not believe it. anyway, he heard about my services after he brought them the car. I spent a 1/2 hour with him talking about proper steps in detailing, and demonstrated a small section with my dual action buffer, and he saw how nice it evened the paint out. The car came out smooth as glass, but the point I wanted to make was just becuase the sign on the door says detail shop, that doesn't mean they know how to do it right.............Gary

Gary,
I'm about to need my Spring detail. I'd obviously prefer to take my car to you, but by the time I drove all the way home, it would be filthy. Is there something those of us who are just way too far away can look for? Is there any kind of detailing trade association or accrediting agency? Reed

I'm in the same boat...er, car. Gary,(or anyone else) I was curious if you have had any experience or opinion on the Ming paint protection system.(www.mingshine.com) I had my dealer just hose down my car at delivery and haven't had it detailed yet.

Their is an assocation for certified detailers (www.detailersassociation.com) I was once on the board, check out the state and see who is close to you. that site that was posted on mingshine is just another place that does paint protection, not sure what they charge but my sealant is 12 bucks a bottle, it will do 4 cars, gary
