Does Scratch Remover Work

OK, so I was washing my baby on Sunday and I noticed scratches primarily on the passenger side of the car. I would really like to get rid of these little bugger, so I was wondering if the scratch remover stuff they sell at the store would actually do anything for the scratches or do I have any other options to remove these?

Depends on the scratches. If they are just surface light marks that have not cut through the clear coat then they might be able to be buffed out. If they have penetrated the clear coat it is a different fix. If they have gotten through the paint into the primer then it is time to find a nice fix it shop.

Surface scratches can usually be taken out or made less noticable with scratch remover. If they are deep scratches then it's a different story.

As stated previous, works great on surface scratches. I have used on several previous cars for years with good success. Deep scratches, not good. Also for surface cosmetic scratches on the windshield these products will take them out as well. But will do nothing for deep chips.

My shy was scratched yesterday from wut i can tell it was a bike. I am so mad right now! It is a deep cut to about 4-5 inches long on the side front hood of the car. Any good suggestions on what I should do, I.E. like go to the Saturn dealer and ask were they recomend I get it fixed, or call my insurence company and see if they will take care of it? What ever the case I really want it fixed now! You can't really see it from a distance...BUT up close! awww maaaan!

I feel yur pain

I feel your pain dakorob.
My first scratch was self induced, a few days ago. I put a couple deep, 1" scratches right below the drivers side door handle. Musta had the keys in my hand when I opened the door. Don't even know exactly when I did it.

If it extends past the clearcoat and into the paint it will be harder to get out. There is a product at the local parts stores that uses a drill and foam applicator to remove clearcoat scratches with a mild polish. If the scratch is able to be picked up by catching your fingernail in it or if it dented the panel, I would suggest a shop do it unless you feel confident in reapiring it yourself.
