Microfiber Question ...
Got a big pile of used microfiber towels left from drying the car. Other than being water soaked, there is nothing visibly wrong with them. My question is, should I wash them and use them again, or should I trash them and buy new ones for the next wash/dry cycle?
Thanks in advance for any advice you old pros can offer ...

If you do decide to trash them every time, I'll give you my address and you can send them to me instead. Better for the environment, you know.

Absolutely, this is what I use also, WORKS GREAT!! These towels are expensive, AND are re-usable. I toss them in the washer, following the instructions for the stuff above, take them out and I hang them all over the place so they can air dry. After they dry?, they are as good as new and ready for round, 2-3-4 or whatever. You will know when they are worn out. Just like your regular bath towels--MB

Yeah - fabric softener ruins them.
We had some that got washed by our daughter - she used a detergent that had "downy" in it. yuk. BUT - if you have microfiber towels that had fabric softener used on them - you can fix them by boiling them for 5 minutes and then rewashing them. The boiling removes the chemicals from the fabric softener and restores them. It's a pain but well worth the effort.

Get the sticks out!
Another tip, when you pull them out of the dryer make sure that no leaves or debris is still stuck in the fibers, just rub your hand and feel for any thing rough. I get leaves stuck in mine and NO they don't wash out completely, have to take a fingernail or flat table knife and pull out the caught debris. TulsaSky ![]()

I "line dry" mine. Actually just drape them over the washer, dryer, sink and counter in my laundry room. I do not recommend machine drying them. High heat can damage the edge of the fibers. Or so I have heard.

there is a website autogeek.net that has the product for sale. I have not seen it in any local store. They also sell a larger bottle of concentrate as a "refill".

As Morfious said, try autogeek.net....there are a lot of microfiber cleaning solutions....but Woolite works just as well....if you want to know if you've got any hidden specks 'o trash that might scratch/mar the paint, try the cd test by running the microfiber over a cd....

Thanks folks. Will give Woolite a try for now, I know we have that lying around somewhere. Should work until I can locate the other stuff online.
Got a pretty good deal on a couple of dozen of these towels in bundles at Pep Boys, but I still don't want to waste them if I don't have to. Though I do appreciate your kind offer, JR ... ![]()

I use regular detergent and then dry them in the dryer. They are still discolored but seem to work fine for me.

They ain't hard to wash by hand either. Just use a dishwashing tub, fill with water...add a little detergent. Agitate by hand. Dump out soap water. Do a quick rinse of towel by hand under facet. Fill tub with water. Rinse. Dump. Rinse again.
Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't.

Be careful your that your wife doesn't toss a pair of nylons into the was with the towels- they stick like glue to the micro-fiber...
