Polishing the plastic parts??

I just washed and polished The Sky using Mequires NXT Tech Wax. I only put it on the metal parts (hood, door, etc.) and NOT on the front and back bumpers. The instructions said to keep off non-painted surfaces, vinyl, rubber, cloth.

My question: Is it OK to use the polish on the plastic parts? The metal looks gorgeous after polishing, and I wonder if the bumpers would look as good.

Polish is for painted areas. Yes you can polish bumpers. Do not polish too often. Use polish only when necassary. If you are using the right microfibre towels and cloths, you will not get scratches. Polish's are for removing subtle damage to the paint from age, weather elements, and/or abuse. Inbetween washes use a good detailing spray and it will help keep the factory coatings looking new.

Blue Ice by Turtle wax, Speed Shine by Griots Garage, or Formula 113 are some of the off the shelf stuff you can buy.

Maybe Gary, a supporting vendor can hook you up with one of his special products. http://www.perfectautofinish.com/

Polish vs wax

I guess the stuff I used is not really a polish. The name says "wax" and the description is synthetic polymer protectant. But it did seem to get rid of fine scratches that were on the trunk lid.

Thanks for the response. I use Meguires Quick Detail spray between washes - I love the way it works! And only microfiber towels and polishing mitts. This was the first time I had a chance to add the wax.

Gary sold the business. However, I assume the new owner will continue in the same way. As for polishing/waxing the bumpers, I treat those areas the same way I do the metal surfaces--Micro-fiber towels a must use item--I have about a hundred of them--Different types for different work--

I use TechWax too - it is NOT a polish -- a very good wax though made just for clearcoats...

Some waxes being sold are labeld as a cleaner wax. They are primarily wax but just enough cleaner/abrasive to to take off the slight oxidation the surface. That is why they are usually in a multistep waxing system.
The plastic can be polished but make sure that it isn't a rough abrasive since it will show marks quciker than metal
