Single stage paint
![]() I haven't talked much about single stage paint much, here is a vintage Jag I detailed with single stage paint. (No clear coat) this car had about 12mils of paint to work with in comparison of only 5-6 mils with modern paint, the advantage you have working on a car like this is you can buff the hell out of it without the risk of going through the clear coat. this car was heavily oxidized and looked dead. I prepped the car as I would any other by washing and claying, after that the fun starts. I used a cyclo dual head buffer with yellow pads (cutting) and a med abrasive polish cleaner, One pass over the car and it started to come back to life. (some areas needed a heavy cleaner) next I went to a light grade cleaner to even out the finsih, then to a straight polish, then seal. If this pic shows up on your computer you can see the results. gary

Awful shiny car there (even though I think the car itself it pretty god-awful ugly).
I once used Comet cleanser on an old, white 1967 Ford Falcon that worked beautifully. Took a yellow car and made it white again. I don't recommend that solution to most people. ![]()
