The Big deal is here!!! DDMWorks Calipers

DDMworks 4 Piston Big Caliper Upgrade

The first kit on the market that allows you to upgrade the stock, single piston floating calipers you have now to a stronger, lighter, custom 4 piston billet set-up. When looking at the stock Solstice and Sky brake set-up, we found that the stock rotor size is a great size for most street driven cars. However, we knew there was some room for improvement in the system by upgrading the stock single piston caliper with a fixed 4 piston caliper set-up.

We designed this kit with the concept of reducing the unsprung mass of the car and keeping the rotating mass as low as we could. By using the stock size rotors we do not overly bias the front brakes or increase the rotating mass often found with other brake kits. The big caliper upgrade comes with everything you need for the upgrade, 2 custom DDMworks big calipers in your choice of Black or Bright Red, 2 Caliper mounting brackets, your choice of brake pads and necessary hardware for the installation. Vehicles using Stock Solstice wheels require the use of a 1/8" wheel spacer(supplied with kit), Sky wheels do not need the spacers. You can re-use your stock brake lines, or upgrade to stainless lines for an even firmer pedal feel.

We will also be doing a big brake kit in the future. This is first part, these 4 piston caliper will be reused to upgrade to larger sized lighter rotors and allow for a stepped approach to the upgrade. This will allow some much needed style points to be added to your car. With that style comes some key features:

Billet Aluminum housing design (Superior in strength to cast calipers).

Four Bolt, multi-ribbed housing. (Increases rigidity and reduces deflection for improved pedal feel).

Stainless steel pistons. (Retards heat transfer to brake fluid).

High temperature, square cut piston seals. (Controls piston retraction for zero drag).

Internal crossover brake fluid passage. (Eliminates potential crossover tube damage from debris).

Here's the prototype

The initial 20 sets (10 Black & 10 Red) will be priced at $550

To Pre-order please vist :

DDMWorks

Anticipated Ship date for the kits is Tax Day, April 15th, so plan accordingly....

We're working on it, they're in production, and not coated yet. It is a typical anodizing color that is fairly common.

Randy I hope your products are better than your use of the English language!
I guess its just me but I think you meant; We're working on it, they're in production, and not coated yet. It is a typical anodizing color that is fairly common. I don't mean to be mean, but I'm a teacher and we are on another snow day!! I can tell that you're excited about your new product! The products that DDM are introducing all look good! I am saving for the Stage II.

Sorry...I'm typing and not proof reading...trying to keep up with all the threads on both boards. No excuse....I was once a teacher....at a university at that.

Awesome! Can we get a polished metal version?? Or better yet an anodized dark red to match the red interior??? I would jump on that like a beaver on a floating log!

I answered that on one of the other threads, sorry....

Right now we are only doing Black and the Gold. If you want Dark red, maybe you can order the black version and you can paint over it...this will get it a darker red....In the future, if we get a red color, it will most likely be a Bright Red.

Oh ok, sorry I missed that. Maybe a bare metal offing would be cool for the people who want to make our calipers a unique color.

The red I am talking about is like in my caliper thread. This looks so cool in person, I get a lot of compliments on it, but you really need bare metal to get the transparent "red metal" look:

Unique Brake Caliper Color

Stock Caliper, bracket and pads weight = 14.5 lbs each

DDM Caliper, Bracket and pads weight = 6 lbs each

That saves 8.5 lbs per side in the front = HUGE

I guess I'm pretty stupid but in order to upgrade to new calipers, don't you need 4 per car? or one for each wheel? I don't get it?

Nope this is for the front only...no real need to do the rears as 80-90% of your braking force is in the front of the car. Also the rears get complicated as the E-brake system uses the rear caliper to hold the car.

Ok, I do remember about the front taking the brunt of the friction. Randy you say that the stock rotors are plenty (good enough?) for this car? Someone once told me, ( I think it was dad ) that if you decided to "soup up" your ride, you needed to start from the ground up and rebuild everything. This costs lots and you'll never see a return on your money or your efforts. This ride is beginning to give me thoughts of gettimg another (night shift) job! Because I sure am having fun dreaming about all I want to modify. Puggs... P.S. I want your stage II !!

For the size of the car, 12" rotors are fine for spirited driving/stopping. Larger rotor are an upgrade but most people will never see the full benefits of larger rotor, other htan the "bling" factor. Those that to heavy track days or AutoX . or drive like Dave may need larger rotors
