Brand New! Tempered-Glass Windscreens From Kappa Windscreens.

Kappa Windscreens is excited and pleased to announce the availability of the first-ever TEMPERED-GLASS WINDSCREEN for your Solstice or Sky roadster. Nothing compares to the high quality look and feel of: smooth, polished, sparkling, clear glass. We decided to bring this same level of refined glasswork to the work of art that is your roadster.

The practical benefits of using tempered-glass are:

* Ease of cleaning, able to clean with solvent-based cleaners.
* Virtually scratch-proof.
* Able to effectively etch or color etch.
* Resists wind vibrations.

The screen is available in 2 sizes- high and low profiles. For details contact Kappa Windscreens at the phone number or e-mail listed below.

Interesting idea... Since it won't bend as plexi does, I was wondering if you are able to put the top up with the glass???

Yes. Both cabin-mount versions can remain in place when the top is raised.

I have a question of the glass. Is it going to be complete clear or will it match the hue of the stock glass?

Is this the same as the Glass appeal from the WindRestrictor guys? Trying to decide on a new one!

Right now the glass is clear; however, we may be able to have some tint similar to the side windows added.

I don't think our product has been copied yet, but you never know.

Do you work with the guys at windrestrictor? I was about to jump on theirs last week when they announced the Glass Appeal but then saw that you launched this yesterday so just seeing what yours is?

This is what the WR one is so I'm trying to compare,

Our products are 10 times stronger than glass and much safer.

UPDATE ON TEMPERED-GLASS WINDBLADE VERSIONS . The tempered-glass windblade is available in 2 cabin-mount versions: high-profile , about 7 inches high at the arc's apex and low-profile , roughly 5 inches tall at the apex. The low-profile version will have a flatter arc (larger radius) and be roughly 1 inch above the humps as one looks at the rear of the car. Both versions can remain in place when the top is raised.

My product is genuine tempered-glass, the same product that automobile manufacturers use on the side and rear windows of the cars they manufacture.

I can only guess, but maybe they did not try hard enough to find a good attachment method. Ours is a safe and effective attachment method.

Several high end roadsters use tempered-glass for their windscreens. The Solstice"s rear window is tempered-glass. Safety is one of the main reasons.

My company is Kappa Windscreens and is in no way affiliated with the one to which you refer. All of the acrylic screens we sell are scratch-resistant. We do not call it "glass love" or "glass desire" etc. we just call it what it is.....scratch-resistant acrylic and have been selling this screen option ever since we started our company years ago. This product is nothing new just renamed for marketing purposes.

Let's face it, tempered-glass is tempered-glass and acrylic is acrylic. Each has it's advantages. We now offer both to our customers.

A Bit of confusion Here - Let's explain

Zolsol is representing KAPPA WINDSCREEN, not any other company that makes or sells windscreens for our Kappas.
He clearly states that to his knowlege no other company uses GLASS for their windscreens. If they are it is news to him.

Actually sounds like an interesting product to me and I plan to look into it. I personally am not aware of another glass product on the market.

Purely to satisfy the curiosity of someone in the automotive glass industry, what DOT number appears on the windscreen ?

The hue of the stock glass is available at an additional charge. As soon as I have pricing information, I will post it. Also, other tints such as smoked dark gray will be available. Again, as soon as I know pricing I will post.

EndiSky, I spoke with Stephen @ Windrestrictor (WR) about their "Glass" product and he told me that it is not tempered glass but some form of acrylic or some other fancy name, however since their supplier markets it as glass so too will WR. I have already placed my order with Ray at Kappa Windscreens for an illuminated custom etched tempered glass wind screen/blade. I should be one of the first few to have this new product. The wait is killing me though...

Good luck in your decision.

LilRedGXP

P.S. I'll post some pics and add a review once I get it and have it installed and lit up.

The clear one can be lit. The smoked probably not. I will try to light the oem hue when I have the opportunity. I will post some pics. as they become available.
