EDAG Hardtops at the Detroit Auto Show and taking orders very soon!

Hi folks!

The press days, supplier days and the black tie event will be next week at the Detroit Auto Show at Cobo Center in Detroit. We will be in the main lobby just outside of the show along with Rousch, Saleen and others. The best part is that YOU DON'T NEED A TICKET TO ENTER THE MAIN LOBBY!! If you are in town, please stop by and see our yellow Saturn Sky hardtop and an interesting version of the Solstice hardtop. We will also be displaying the Audi Q7 that we built for SEMA. I will post pictures next week of the cars once they have been on display.

Our cars will be on display during the press and supplier days in the main lobby (tickets not required!) from 7am -6pm Sun (7 Jan) to Tues (9 Jan) and from 7am -9pm Wed (10 Jan) and Thurs (11 Jan).

Also we will be taking orders very soon! Our website guys and the bank guys are getting the final touch set up on the ordering system. We will have pictures of the Sky hardtop prototype and more updated production info as well! Also, we have moved our site to a new address! Please check out www.EdagHardtop.com. The site can still be accessed from www2.edag-us.com or www.edag-us.com and clicking on the link.

More soon as it develops- things are moving fairly quickly at the moment!

Cheers!
Matt

Hi Bill,
I will be down there on and off a bit. I am keeping busy getting the design and engineering stuff wrapped up and ready for start of production.

Have fun!

Cheers,
Matt

Matt, I am curious about the interior volume with the convertible top left in place. Can you post some section drawings showing interior dimensions ?

Hi JRinKY,
We don't have any math data for the soft top, but what I will do is to take some dimensions of one of the cars when it comes back from the show from the soft top in the down position to the inside of the headliner in a couple of different spots to give you an idea.

Cheers,
Matt

Are there any plans to make a hard top the shape of the soft top? You guys did a nice job on holding design ques but I for one do not want it for space. I cant loose my bat mobile humps!!

Also, not crazy about that big lock cylinder sticking out of the rear glass. Kudos for making anything this cool!

I just think the one I am asking for would sell 2 to 1 over the "wagon" hard top.

ANYONE WANT TO CHIME IN?

I'm with you there. The design is great - but the shape is not for me. A hard top shaped like the soft top would be too cool. Also a bit easier to store for us space challenged peeps..

False floor to protect the soft top?

Does the EDAG hard top come with a seperate hard panel that fits in the trunk as a false floor to cover and protect the stowed soft top from damage from all stuff you can now carry?? Are there any plans to offer a sports car styled hard top? Thank you.

How would you deal with the buttresses ? They would have to be eliminated or hinged in some way to open the trunk. If you eliminate them, you'll have the latch points to plug, and it would no longer match the profile of the soft top. Hinging them could get pretty complicated.

Hi xmicro!
We have some folks doing some sketches for our next product, but we aren't sure what it will be. More focus will be put into the next project after the current Sol and Sky hardtops are launched into production. As JRinKY indicates in a post above, there are some significant issues with a hardtop that uses the production deck lid. The issues are not insurmountable, but significant. Who knows what the future holds!

Cheers!
Matt

Hi Mark,
We don't have a false floor in our design. We wanted to make sure that the customer can access all of the available space. Some of the most usable space is just rearward of the soft top at the centerline of the vehicle- a space that is difficult to access with the production deck lid in place for some people.

Cheers,
Matt

Well you guys are building a great looking product!
As far as duplicating the soft top -- I could go with having my buttress cut off long before you cover my Aero Fairings...

Good morning folks!
There are some pictures of the Sky prototype from the Detroit autoshow in the Gallery in the Vendor's folder. More pics will be coming next week when the car returns from the Detroit autoshow.

Cheers,
Matt
