Lowered Sky with Eibach springs from Kappasphere!

Hey guys
As promised here are photos of our car with the new M1 wheels and our Eibach springs. I can easily say this Sky is one of the best looking cars I've ever seen.

Info on Eibach Springs:
The KappaSphere Springs from Eibach lower your car’s center of gravity, reducing squat during acceleration, body roll in corners and excessive nose-dive under braking.

The KappaSphere Spring kit is the perfect answer for most frequently-driven street cars as it lowers your car by 1" in front and 1.3" in rear for an aggressive stance.

Our springs were developed and produced in the USA by Eibach, a QS9000 registered company that supplies springs for all race series including Formula 1, NASCAR, as well as the obsessed amateurs of the SCCA. Million mile warranty!

I think looks pretty good lowered. The only question i have is; How does it handle the sometimes sharp incline of the skirt while pulling into your driveway?

It looks nice, but I would be afraid of driving it in Michigan...it would get lost in the pot holes, or worse, snagged on the dead animals. I barely go over them as it is!

As good as it looks I don't think I could have it any lower and still be able to drive her around town here. I already have to watch where I go at the current ride height.

Installing the lowering springs on the kappasphere Sky wasnt too hard at all. I took my time and it took 2 hours. I didnt notice any different handling characteristics are any fender rubbing on the test drive after, but the usual having to slow down for speed bumps.

From my initial driving there hasn't been any rubbing. As far as slowing down in town for speed bumps etc. I drive a Lotus Elise as my daily driver so I guess I am very used to being really careful with cars this low. Out of the box the Sky is already low, but I must say this looks better and if it's anything like the Solstice... it will handle much better now.

Stig, what tools are required for this?

I'm assuming a spring compressor and then whatever sockets fit the shock bolts...

We took our car into to dealership... PM SkyTech... he posted just above on this thread. He's the guy who worked on our car. And yes, I believe you need to compress the springs, Skytech would be able to give you a much better explanation on how the install went.

Lets see Heres the list

15mm Ratcheting wrench
13mm socket
18mm socket
22mm socket
ratchet
ball joint separator

Step one:
Remove all 4 wheels

Step two:
Loosen and remove each rear balljoint from rear spindle

Step Three:
(REAR)
loosen the two top shock bolts with 15mm ratcheting wrench and loosen two lower bolts with 15mm wrench on top and 13mm socket on bottom.
(repet step on opposite side)

Step Four:
Using a strut compressor, compresse the spring and replace. Be sure to trim 20mm off the bottom of each bump stop.

Step Five:
Reinstall rear shocks. I used lock tight (blue) on each nut and bolt

Step Six: remove front lower control arm ball joint nut on each side. And use balljoint separator.

Step Seven: Remove shocks in same mannor as rear. I found getting the top nuts off were easier from under the hood. Lift up on spindle and tilt sock to remove.

Step Eight: Compress and reinstall new springs. Be sure to trim 20mm off the bottom of each bump stop.

Step Nine: Reinstall shocks.

If you take your time it is just a few nuts and bolts. Any local shock place would be able to perform the swap for ya. Good luck and let me know if there are any questions

That is pretty much what I expected but it's always good to talk to someone who's done it.

And take it to a shop???

Naw, I think I got it covered...I'm fairly handy around cars now. LOL Last year at this time it may have been a little sketchy...but I think I can manage springs after doing THAT^^.

Thanks though. WHEN I pick them up if I have any questions I'll let you know.

I honestly did not feel much difference at all in the stiffness of the ride

Not much harder at all. The springs are progressive. We told Eibach we didn't want to ride quality to change much. If anything, you don't get as much sway in the corners or at the corner exits.
