Race Precision GT downpipe/exhuast combo for 2.4 and 2.0 turbos

Here are some new unpolished versions of our GT exhaust and Downpipe. Both the downpipe and exhaust are made from thick T304SS. Downpipe is available with or without a 3" high flow cat. The downpipes bolt directly to our GT exhausts without modification. Expect up to 25+hp on top of the GT exhaust. All Race Precision exhausts come with a life time warranty. Please email or call for specifics.

GT Exhaust $950
GT Downpipe w/ cat $399 (Metal matrix cats. Not the cheap ceramic monolith)
GT Downpipe w/o cat $299

There is no mistaking our GT exhaust. T304 stainless dual wall polished tips (3.5"w/2.5" staggered, fully adjustable).

The GT system allows the flexibility of our GT downpipe upgrade later on. Rather than buying a 3" exhaust that bolts to the stock 2.5" flange, then buying a 3" high flow cat and having to cut the 3" pipe, our exhausts include a 3" to 2.5" flex adaptor pipe. Simply remove the adaptor piece and our GT downpipes bolt right up to the exhaust.

"Y" pipe design for optimal exhaust velocity.

NOTE: production versions are fully polished (tips, piping, welds) with cleaner welds. Please check your local laws before upgrading your catalytic convertor. Exhaust and downpipe designed for up to 650whp. GTS versions for higher hp in development.

There are quite a few people who chose the 2.4 over the redline because of displacement. Pound for pound of boost, the 2.4 makes more power than the 2.0. We designed the 2.4 downpipe for our 2.4GT and GTS conversions. There are those who have the Hahn kit or another turbo kit on their cars that would benefit from it also.

I have to declare myself among the "uninformed". I just started learning about cat-back systems and I am still confused about them and now there is a downpipe. I need your help - can someone explain how a downpipe works, and what advantages does it provide when combined with a cat back exhaust?

Thank you,

Rich

Typically on a turbo application you need a downpipe designed for free flowing capabilities to help the turbo spool up. In our case, the catalytic converter is on our downpipe (the pipes from the turbo to the catback exhaust). Once the exhaust gasses pass the downpipe, gas velocity is very important as it will allow for increase in power.

I've gotten a lot of requests about availability, etc so I am putting together a waiting list here: http://www.raceprecision.com/forums/....php?p=194#194

Exhausts will be shipped in this order.

That's very true, but you really need to hear it in person. Be warned that the sound will make you drive faster and the increased exhaust flow will help it. IMO, you'll feel and hear the difference. It really perked up my 2.4, and it's driver .

Just FYI, the exhaust, when installed on a redline is MUCH MUCH quieter. I was very surprised at how much quieter it was than on the 2.4L.

Perked up your car Mark? lol.

Uh huh. Now there's a reason to get a turbo right there, yup.

Just so we don't leave anyone out here, I sorta like to drive in the higher rpm range. The exhaust benefits helped my 2.4 get up there much more quickly, shifting north of 6k faster. The exhuast sounds great, but uh, the sound travels a bit of distance. Between the sound and the faster response, I wasn't in a real big rush to get Eloy his prototype back right away, although I tried to be reasonable. Might be a bit too loud for my little neighborhood, and I don't intend to drive in the low rpm range where the exhaust is low in timbre and quieter. But with a turbo to scavenge some exhaust and muffle the sound.... hmmm. Turbo first depending on GMPP options (not holding my breath) then we'll decide on exhaust options.

The first downpipe we tested gave a lowered emissions code so we are now using a HiCe load cat. I'm driving around with it to see if there are any problems. So far after 150miles, there are no problems. I'll be putting more use to it before it goes into production.

Hehe, sorry. The GT system has "tuned" tips. Its not just some system thrown together. Its really a gem of an exhaust system that shouldnt be tampered with.

With the new Y pipe design, we stuck with 2.5" dual pipes rather than the 2.25" ones.

Is this for the non turbo 2.4 also, or just for a Sky with a turbo installed and the Redline.

If this goes onto an RL does it change the way the ECM works or anything like that? What does replacing a cat do for your warrenty? Many here have said that their dealer has told that a cat back is okay, but replacing the cat is a no no.
