Yes aluminum can be light, not sure if it would be as strong as a fibreglass top or as easy to make a cool shape.

I like them with a hard top for a different look. I like what the solstice did with the stripes. Some of us just like to be different. It is not a matter of need, it is a matter of want.

Want is a need I can understand.

I would like it so that my car can have the same lighting bend from all angles. The soft top really is a good shape and The added sleekness that the aluminum top would bring is what I'm after. Along with a little bit of added security when parking at an under developed area.

I understand the desire for more security, but the added security of a hardtop is illusionary. As long as the door lights are tempered, the easiest way into a car is to break one of them.

I don't care WHAT it's made of..................

As long as it's the best material at the best price.

And looks like the yellow car.

I thinks that's a sharp top.

Even if you can't stow it in the trunk.

So.......... WHO'S going to make it and WHEN????

And JR.............. you running this sat with OVK?

It appears that EDAG is delayed in getting the Sky top developed, probably seeing how well the Solstice top sells.

I am probably going to buy a Sol top this fall to adapt to my Sky.

Yes, I am running with you guys to Labrot & Graham, but will either meet you there or at the Dairy Queen stop. Isn't it on the 30th ?

I really like the hard top that is on the solstice tha was pictured, one thing I might change for the sky would be to make the roof humps a bit more pronounced, kind of like on the roof of the dodge viper. I think that would look nice, and would compliment the humps on the rear deck lid.

However, my favorite so far is by far the coupe/hatch top that EDAG is marketing . That thing is freakin sweet, like said before, its like a better version of the BMW Z hatch. If it was a simpler transplant, I would be considering one hard for when i get my sky, but I just dont think I could part with the convertible option so early in the game . I do like the prospect of a hardtop for the winter though, I dont think thats such a bad idea.

To each his own because that coupe top is the ugliest damn thing I've ever seen and why the hell would you put that on your car and completely lose your ability to go convertible????

The only option is a hardtop that keeps the softtop and the rear deck so you can switch back at anytime. Storage space be damned...who cares, that's not why we bought this car anyway.

That is kind of what I was getting at with my second paragraph, I want the convertible top, and am not willing to comprimise that for teh coupe top. I would, however, be interested in the hard top that has been mentioned earlier in the thread that retains the ragtop and deck lid, that I could use in the winter months where the soft top is less practical.

I like the yellow one but that is a little harder to conceive as a working option.

This one on a solstice is perfect!

I agree with you. I love the sky redline and it is a sportscar. I think the hardtop should also have that sporty look.
Thanks.

If they don't make it for the sky. Then some one might make it for the solstice one with (seals). Then we can mod it to fit if need be.

I am planning to do exactly that for my Sky. Buy the EDAG Solstice top, cut off the skirtthat fits the Sol trunk and graft on a new one to match the Sky.

I think that if someone did market a coupe hardtop for the Kappa it would make sense to replace the trunk lid also, and include a rear-opening hatch to allow access to the rear glovebox.

Roadsters in the tradition of the great European Sports cars of the 40's, 50's, 60's, and beyond, were popular among a suprisingly large number of automobie enthusiasts because they were two seater, open toped cars with manual gearboxes and were a ball to drive. Comfort was not an issue. I bought a new, 1967, E-Type Jaguar roadster in the summer of that year. It had no power steering, no power windows, door locks seats, no air condiioner, no cd player no anything but pure, shift it yourself, 265 hp. 4.2 litres of twin cam in line 6 cylinder, screaming Jaguar. Oh yes, i also bought a factory removable hard top.

I owned the E-Type for six years and the hard top for less than a year. The hard top was on the car for about ten days. It transformed the JAG'S driving experience into something like eating a bowl of cold oatmeal, without sugar.

Trust me you don't need a hard top for your Sky, especially one as ugly as this one.

Three points, if I may:

1) This top is in the spirit of the GT versions of those sports cars, not the coupe versions to which you refer.

2) For many of us that have seen this top in person, ugly is not the most commonly used description. A great many of us like the look.

3) It is against forum rules, and a not-very-classy act, to make negative comments about a supporting vendor's products in the Supporting Vendor's News and Announcements Forum.

New job-

Hi Folks!

I have a new job in a different business unit at EDAG. Unfortunately, I won't be able to dedicate the time to the forums that I have in the past.

Please feel free to visit Sportwagon Hardtop conversion for the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn SKY and Opel GT - EDAG, Inc. - 248.588.3134 to see the latest updates and submit questions.

CHEERS AND HAPPY MOTORING!!!!
