Hi KappaMan!
Thanks for the kind comments. The styling theme of the line that you are mentioning is the key for the side view. In the production version of the top, there is actually a feature line there that really does a nice job of defining that line. We received two sketches of different views of the hardtop from our styling team in Germany and we produce the product from there. Working through the styling development from a couple of sketches is my favorite time of a program. It's cool to see it all evolve.

We have moved into a new facility (Auburn Hills, Mi- a northern suburb of Detroit) and combined the teams from four buildings into one. We are in the process of doing a lot of renovation and remodeling. Upon completion, we are intending to have an open house where folks from the industry and the Sky and Sol forums can come out, meet us and have a chance to see the prototypes and some of the early production cars as well. As we get closer to that time, I will give everyone as much advanced notice as I can on the date and time.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi folks! No new pics at the moment. Working on launching the Solstice hardtop into production. If you are looking for something specific, please send me a PM and I will be happy to go to the studio and take a picture. The only one on a car at this point is the yellow show car from the Detroit autoshow. Development is in progress at the moment. I look forward to hearing from you- please let me know if I can answer any questions!

Cheers!
Matt

Hardtop

Just wanted to throw my 2cents in on the hardtop...

I would like to see a hardtop that keeps the same lines as the softtop, use the same hook-ins as the softtop both in front and in back. This way you keep the back deck and the softtop and the hardtop is completely removeable without having to mess with anything stock.

If you want to have the hardtop, you put the softtop under the deck, then put on the hardtop!!

Any takers for that version?? Of course you would have even less storage, but storage isn't the point of a hardtop or even the Sky for that matter.

A top like this would be awesome....its on a Solstice but looks great!

Reminds me of the tops on the Solstice that are in the Speed Channel show "Setup". The cars were prepped by the famous race car house of Pratt & Miller in Wixom Michigan....

Now that is just to cool. I would defiantly think about getting a hardtop like that one. Maybe with out all the glass on top.

I like the glass cause it still gives you the feeling of the open top...

I like the glass top too - best option I've seen yet. In my view, this top retains the look of a sportscar. The other option(s) seem to make it look like a hatchback. Yuk. Nevertheless, I doubt I'd install a hard top on my sky.

Wow,.. But can we say if we DO or DO NOT like it? Maybe saying it looks like a Sporty Station Wagon is wrong... lol

the reason people got station wagons was to have more room in the back for small children, a drum set or groceries. Is there added seats in the back? If so, thats a Great idea for people who need more room but want a sporty look..

Can we make a viper Wagon, corvette wagon or camaro Wagon too. woohoo!!

I like that hardtop too! Very radical! Would be very sweet if the glass center could be removed (ala targa top).

So if they have this for the Opel GT, would it fit the Sky? Looks like the humps may be more pronounced, but not sure.

I like the top on http://hvtm.totalcar.hu/index.php3?I...carID=6002&s=1
as well. However, it seems you need a modified rear deck lid. Our humps arent that sharp.

NOW THAT IS A HOT HARD TOP FOR THE SKY! Looks like a trunk lid replacement would be in order thought, did anyone notice that? The glass is cool, because you would still have a decent rear view. I would imagine looling out the corners wou;dn't be too easy, but no worse then the current soft top. I would definitly look into this hard top!

Yeah, it would be a nice idea... maybe we could get a better price cause we are a community and so on... we should try
...and maybe we could find a way to translate their site so people outside Hungary can place orders...
BTW I also like the one from EDAG, it would be nice to be able to skip from a roadster to a coupe to a sportwagon whenever we wanted...

I suppose the only problem with the cool-looking hardtop, is that you need to also change your trunk lid too.

I think my car would look funny with the top down, riding around with those 2, giant air brakes (humps) sticking up so high.

Maybe if they looked like some kind of air scoops, then it might be different.

Hardtop

I still like this hardtop best:

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=14614

No additional modification necessary, just put your top down and put the hardtop on. Uses the same hookups as the softtop.

I don't want to get deep into changing the already good looks of the Sky by changing out the rear deck, plus that just gets more and more expensive.
