07 R/L Misfire should I have it checked?

My 07 r/l has a misfire yesturday when I was coming home from work. It was raining hard and I had just turned onto a side road when the check engine light started blinking. I immediately pulled over and when I did I noticed the engine sputtered. Turned off the car and called onstar. They said to crank it so they could check what code was listed. Said it was a misfire.

I have had this car misfire before, but it was a long time ago. This is the first time it has done this in a while, and it drove home just fine. Last time, saturn said they found a loose plug cable and replaced it. Should I bother having saturn check it out? Or will they just clear the code and send me on my way? The dealership is an hour away and I would hate to waste the gas if the trip won't be worthwhile. What do you guys think?

I'd get it checked. It may something minor. Or not. Even if they "just clear the code and send you on your way", at least you have a record of the problem.

You got your right after I got mine. Did you ever get the plugs replaced? The older RLs came with the wrong plugs. Mine use to misfire until I had them replaced.

It has the newer plugs in it. I had them replace them way back when... when it was misfiring every morning at startup. That didn't correct the misfire, but I wanted the new plugs in there anyway. I will call Augusta and see when I can bring it in for the checkup.

I had the same thing happen.

Driving home through very hard rain. Had several instances of a misfire and Onstar was able to confirm this. By the time they examined the car remotely the misfires had stopped. I took it to the dealer under warranty, they cleared the code, and reported no fault found. I suspect the rain may have had something to do with it. It has never misfired since then.
