1st oil change

What mileage did you guys go to before your 1st oil change?
The manual does not indicate an interval for the first change, so I assume its whenever the OLM says to do it.
I plan to run Mobil 1 oil, like all my other vehicles.
I do my own oil changes. The dealer offers free oil changes for the first year, but I don't know what oil they use. Since mine is not a RL that specifically calls out M1, it's probably dino based.

I have use Mobil 1 on all of my changes and have had the dealer do them all. A couple I got for free to comp. me for having the car for a week to do warrenty work, so I didn't complain. I think the first one was done around 3k.

I don't do mileage, I do percentage. I'm at 9% now and due. It'll probably be at 6000 miles and at about six months when I get it.

First one if I recall I did @ 3000 miles, since then it has been done between 6-7000 miles with a new filter whether it needs it or not. I pay few cents more and use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-30 "Proven Protection for 15,000 Miles".. Luckily for us Sky 2.4L owners we can use this oil where as the R/L owners cannot. Our engines use GM6094M that this oil rates, in addition to the standard Mobil 1 (5000-7500 oil) regular Mobil one has BOTH standards, GM4718M AND GM6094M ratings, however, the R/L must use GM4718M as standard. Oh BTW, I also bring my own oil to the dealer.. buy their filter and pay what for ever needs attention that's not under warranty, (like tire rotations, that happens every time I go in..)..

Thanks for the replys. I understand the OLM (Oil Life Monitor). I'll probably do the first at 3000 and put in M1 and a new filter. I always change the filter. After the initial, I'll use the OLM recommended interval.

Thanks again everybody! Think Spring

I changed mine at 3k. I change my own oil every 3500 after the initial 3000. i actually enjoyed changing the oil on this car compared to others. The top loading filter keeps oil from dripping everywhere. Makes for a "clean" oil change. Everything is easily accessible provided you have the extender correct socket. the hardest part was getting my jacks under the car. you need to use the super low profile lift jacks if you are going to use the a wooden block in between the jack and the lift point.
