[QUOTE=Spfld-IL-SKY;578519]Every place I searched I kept getting reference to how to remove the battery from the driver side of the vehicle through the fender. You in an earlier post said that GM recommends removing the battery through the wheel well instead. I had not found any such instruction on any of the searches I had done.[

Remember, there are no longer Saturn dealerships and the GM dealerships do not have the experience to remove batteries from our cars...so they go to the GM computer and it gives them instructions to remove the wheel well instead of the fender..

When my "authorized Saturn service provider" replaced mine, they removed the fender.

I made a youtube video on how to do it a few years back...I also researched for a battery that I thought was tip top...3 years later I've never experienced any issues whatsoever, so it was as good a battery as I thought it was...here's the video:

Very helpful. I'll probably have a shop do it but at least I know they don't have to remove the support as one dealer told me. I can also see that it's not worth $350. I'll shop around.

Again, thanks for the public service.

Thank you acsilverdragon for that video! My battery died here at work yesterday and I want you to know that I watched your video, brought in the tools today and it only took me about 20 minutes to take the fender off in the company parking lot! Unfortunately, I'm apparently not strong enough to get the bolts off the old battery so I'm waiting for the warehouse guys to go to lunch then I'm going to offer one of them $20 to switch it out for me. Hopefully, the fender will go back on as easily as it came off. LOL!

I was really dreading the day that I would have to do this but seeing your video made it so much easier. Thanks again.
Judi

EDIT: Took only about 10 minutes to put it back on. I took a picture in my office before I put it back on as proof for all you ladies out there that you can do it too!:thumbs

Cool

Good job

I had to do two of them last month. One Sol and one Sky. Was easier the second time.
