Anyone know about GM's Turbo for SKY

At our meet with our Solstice cousins in White Rock BC yesterday some were saying that GM will be coming out with a Turbo upgrade for our base SKY's. HAs anyone heard or have any information on that?

Hi,

Last November I sent an email to the GM Performance Division asking if they are planning any performance upgrades for the Sky and Solstice. This is the reply I received:

"Hey Larry and Cheryl. I understand that GM Performance Division is playing with some upgrade stuff but not clear direction as yet. It certainly wouldn't surprise me that they will come up with something but if it is a Supercharger upgrade or a Turbocharger upgrade is unknown.

Scott D. Roslund

GM Performance Parts"

I received another email from Mr. Roslund saying they might have something of interest for the Sky/Solstice community in March 07.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what they are planning.

Regards,

Thanks for your reply. I'll be interested to hear what they have in March 07. I love my base SKY and have added the dual exhaust and CAI but I'd like a little more pepp but don't want to spend $10000 for an after market supercharger that null and voids our 5 year warrenty.

Well here in Canada it took me 19 months to get my base and it would probably be another 2 years before I could get a redline. So I have added the dual exhaust and dual CAI and all it needs is a little more power. So if I can get a turbo or supercharger from GM I would love to get it!

So to those of you that are lucky to get a Redline, ENJOY!

I sure hope GM has something good to say in March. I would like the extra power, especially for passing and getting on the highway. However, I don't want to void the warranty and 5 years is a long wait! Trying to get a Redline and getting enough on a trade in makes adding the turbo an attractive option to me (especially since I can put it in). Besides, I like having one of the first 1000 made.

Maybe Saturn is coming out with a performance line of aftermarket parts with a warranty??? Most other auto manufacturers have one.

That would be nice! I wonder if the GM stuff would void the warr?

Not to disappoint anybody, but I would guess that whatever might be coming in March '07 may likely be similar to the Stage Kits that were released for the ION Redline. So, it's possible it may only apply to the GXP or SKY Redline. However, GM does offer a Supercharger upgrade for the 2.2 Ecotec's that were in the Cavalier, ION, and Cobalt, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them start to offer something for the 2.4L Ecotec as well, as there are quite a few models that use that engine now. Although, it will be interesting to see if they figure out a way to add a T/C or S/C to the 2.4 in the SKY. Not like there's a lot of space in there for more hardware!

True, however if Hahn can fit theirs in, I see NO problem with GM's version-- That would be the way I would go, especially if its the same price. PLUS, if it is OEM, your warranty WILL probably stay intact-- We'll see, still to be determined--

The SC they released for the 2.2 engines was a roots blower wasn't it? Also, in the Ion that blower sits at an angle. If they did that with the 2.4 I could see it working. Would love to go that route then start playing with other blowers.
