Battery Terminals

Hey you Guys
Hate to bother you on Super Bowl Sunday, BUT.
Got a nasty surprise on our Sky Redline.
Went click, the key got locked in, and no power.
Went to the Battery and low and behold the terminals were rotted.
So much for trusting and paying our GM dealer to watch out for such things.
So here's the problem. Have you guys found a Terminal clamp that works in place of the OEM clamp.
Also is there a good discussion on how to get the battery out. Looks like I have to take half the front fender panel apart.

Don't ask...just use "SEARCH"....your answer is there waiting for you. Some due diligence is needed.

There have been a few recent posts on the battery removal. Like MM said, search is your friend.

It's stupid to have to remove the fender, but simple. I did it (unplanned) in an O'Reilly's parking lot about 10 days ago. I hadn't done it before, and it only took me 45 minutes start to finish. Once I convinced the clerk to let me use is "personal" 10mm socket to get the door frame bolt out (retarded design) it was relatively painless.

I will say that I wished I'd been able to watch the video before attempting. It took me a bit to figure out that I could get the door frame bolt only with a socket and extension through the hinge opening. No way in hell I could fit my hand down in the opening and manipulate a wrench, and the cuts and scrapes I had to prove it have just about healed up.

I made up a small tool set just for the fender remover.
Use a grabber pick up tool to remove the
door bolt and to restart this bolt.

I just replaced the Positive terminal on my Battery.
I had not noticed all the corrosion due to that stupid red cover.
The negative one was fine.

I bought the following
Lynx Battery Terminal | Product Details | Pep Boys
and only installed the red one on the positive wire.

Quite often when battery terminals start corroding it is a sign that the battery itself has a problem. Sometimes it one of the cells that has gone bad or the battery has finally decided it's tired and wants to retire. Have the battery tested to see if this might be the cause of your problem.

My battery has been dead for a long time...they gave me this BLUE MAGIC...works fine now.

FIXED!!!
Batt load tested just fine
Terminals were shot so I cut them off right before the crimp.
Standard NAPA terminals worked great.
Now I can actually see the terminals to check for corrosion.
