CAI on 2008 Redline

I know this topic has been beat to death, but to save me lots of searching, can someone answer a few basic questions?

I am looking at the Fujita CAI. ($240 range on ebay)

Do I need to disconnect the battery to reset the computer, or does it automatically adjust? Also, what about these 'pre filter' sacks that I see on some of them...is this really necessary if you keep the filter clean? I am curious as to the quality of filtration that these filters provide since they are not protected by the 'box'

I just put a similar one on my 2002 Grand am and I am loving the benefits of low end torque and what seems to be a significant increase in gas mileage.

I couldn't tell you about the ecm or unplugging the battery but in response to the "sack" to my knowledge it is merely a repellent for minor water leaks and stuff that get on the filter so it doesn't immediately get sucked in as well a an extra layer to keep out dirt an crap.

On my old 2.5 RS I had a CAI and it sucked up all sorts of crazy amounts of dirt and mud and rap and I had to clean it about once a month.... but I also took it off road about twice a week so maybe thats why but i would say for normal highway driving you should be alright

KappaSphere did the development work on it. I think they even have a sale on it now, $275.00. The good thing about these guys is they will answer all of your questions and help you during the install process. A great group of guys to have at your disposal, and well worth the extra $35.00 or so. They might even be able to match the price if you talk real nice to them...

Here is the address of their site:

Kappasphere Turbo Cold Air Intake for Pontiac GXP & Sky Redline

By the way, the photos of the installed part are SPIRIT! (The car that was used as the engineering test bed for product development.)
