Changed Shifter Boot Design?
The red stitching on my black shifter boot started to come undone in one spot (and you know how I love my red and black!) So when SPIRIT was in getting the recall done and the hood dent repaired I asked them to replace the shifter boot. They ordered one, but when it came in and they installed it the found that the clips would not secure it into place. It looks to me like they are not long enough to reach under the lip on the console.
They said that the part was "defective" when they got it, but it looks more like an improper part. They have ordered a new one for me. But here's a "heads up"... It is possible that the design of the console and Shifter boot may have changed since the early 2007s. If so, if you are planning to do custom work be careful about getting the right variant of part.

I had my shifter boot replaced for the same reason--bad stitching. New part fit fine and stitches look good. No mention of a part change.
