Yea, I remember it happening to the early models when they came out, something to do with the crappy glue they were using... There are very old threads on this some where 'round here...

Same here, in fact I noticed it when I picked it up after my fall service call. Dealer said they noticed also, I really wanted to ask them why they didn't fix it but was affraid to hear the answer. Told them to note it on my record and I'll see them in the spring.

I have the same on both sides of the car. Dealer has ordered them at no cost also. It is cold here and I thought it looked like the plastic contracted and the metal inlay did not. The gap between the plastic and body metal appears larger on the outsides.

Both of them peeled up on BABY, but that was built in May of '06. By the time SPIRIT was built in October they had that problem fixed.

By the way, I took one of the strips from BABY and use it as a chrome accent on the Mayan Temple in the trunk...

My drivers side replaced twice and passenger side replaced once. I have an early VIN. I thought that this was fixed on the later models.

I was cleaning my car today and...sure enough it's bowing up on driver side. Build date was July 07, so I guess it ain't fixed yet...or at least not by July 07.

That's an interesting point, particularly considering the thermodynamic properties of the plate and the plastic probably vary a good bit. As the vehicle goes through thermo cycles, I can see the expansion contraction differences between plate and plastic creating small shearing stresses in the adhesive. Adhesives are more pliable in warmer climates which will either eliminate the problem or make it so it takes a lot longer to occur. Repeated shearing stresses on a cold adhesive will eventually cause the adhesive to fail.

Ok, I just made all that up. But it could be right.

Loose Plate

Mine is loose too on the driver's side. My model is a 2008. Haven't done anything about it yet....thought about fixing it myself with some 'Gorilla Glue'

I have a August 2007 built Sky and both sides are coming up. If it is the weather, the metal no longer fits in the recessed area of the plastic. Thinking about trimming or cutting some of the plate off.

Add me to the list

Funny I noticed it about the same time this thread started! It must be some sort of conspiracy!!!

Stupid glue.

Oh yeah... got the car in the summer... no troubles. Now in the cold winter months it's an issue. :|

Could also be that it's been rained for like the entire freakin month of Jan!

Eh... not taking it to a dealer for just this though. LOL!
