Driver's seat back moves A LOT side to side.

The seat back of my driver's seat has been squeaking a little, but nothing I didn't compare to just the seat back rubbing on the panel. Now that I got in it and moved the seat forward last night the whole back of the seat wiggles side to side. I bet there is a good two inches of play. Not that base itself, just the bottom. Almost like it's loose. Is there any TSB of sorts on this that anyone knows? Or should I just take it back to the dealer and deal with the hassle myself? Thanks!

I have not heard of that problem before. I'm thinking your issue is with your specific car. I would get it to the dealer for some warranty work. That doesn't sound too safe (or comfortable).

There was a recall for the seat bracket/frame on '08 Skys and Solstices.

My car had the same issue. My service department replaced the seat frame and it's been all good since then.

Just make sure that they are careful. They managed to put a cut into the center arm-rest in the process, so I had to bring it back to get that replaced.

The recall number is 07V454000 - Seat Stud Fasteners.

Hope this helps.

I actually had an issue with the seat rail clip...it's what snaps the seat into place. My lever on the side of the seat became flimsy and wasn't releasing or locking the seat. The seat simply moved freely front and back and never snapped into place. They had to replace the entire frame rail.

There have been several threads regarding loose thru bolts on the seats. Rare I will say, never the less it has happened. Donno if that is ur issue, but certainly something you should have looked at ASAP. This obviously is a safety issue. I am surprised you did not catch that when you picked the car up.. I would have that looked at TODAY if possible..

Well the dealer is being horrible as usual. The service manager said he has never heard of such an issue, but they could at least look at it. Then when I told him I had the recall number, he sighed and huffed and puffed and took down my info on the number promising to call me back. They wanted me to make one trip (which is about 150 miles round trip) just to look at it, then ANOTHER trip to actually get it fixed. They have to verify it's the exact problem first. I asked if they would pay for a whole tank of gas (because it's about 300 miles of driving) and my time off work to which they of course said no. They also won't let me just bring the seat up to them for repair so I will have to wait while they take their sweet time. This is honestly something I can do myself, but of course it's never that easy.

Actually the dealer just called me as I was typing this and said they got the required parts ordered so now I have to go up next Saturday and wait god knows how long to have them repair it. I guess I can't really complain because he did get back to me in a timely fashion and they are going to fix it. I just HATE letting the dealer touch my cars you know?

Thank you mbeardsley for providing the info!

-Chris

2k8 R/L. It's pretty bad, I move horizontally and vertically over bumps and through turns. I'm hoping it doesn't damage my leather.

For the answer I would use some duct tape. Yalls choice of colors. Put it on thick and nothing will move...Duct tape....Skip...

I have this problem as well. I can rock the seat back side to side, I wasn't sure if it was "normal" or not. I am considering aftermarket seats because of this issue. Perhaps I will take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

I will let you guys know how the fix goes to see if it's worth going to the dealer for this issue or not. I'm going to probably pull the seat out today to see if I can find the parts in question that need replacing, then have the dealer do the work next weekend, and see what exactly they changed. If it's cheap enough and easy enough I can probably get ahold of the parts and do a write up on how to do it to save us all time at the dealer in the future.

My '08 RL's seat has no problem.
But if it did - the dealer would be getting a call ASAP !

Before I had mine fixed, it was easy to see the problem.

With the car parked, I could "shake" the driver's seat and you could feel that it was much looser than the passenger seat.

Once my dealer fixed it (and they fixed it just BEFORE the recall was announced), both seats became equally steady.

Here is the results from my service report, in case it helps others...

ISSUE: Cust states drivers seat loose over bumps at seat bottom
CONDITION: always
CAUSE: defective part
TECH COMM: Tech found nec to R&R the drivers side seat to tighten seat bolts to correct the problem
REPAIR: front seat back frame replacement
OPCODE: C6068
HOURS: .80

I think "nec to R&R" means "necessary to remove and replace", but I'm not sure. Maybe this info will be useful to somebody.

I too have this issue on my 07 Redline. I always have my seatback to the furthest position back, so it is not that bad, but if I move it forward I can only imagine. Thanks for the Recall #, my dealer will be getting a call.
