Driving Saturn Outlook,Wish I Wasn't

I"m currently driving a Saturn Outlook, because my sky is in the shop for the third time for the diff leak. 1st time 1800 miles, 2nd time 4200 miles, and now again at 6000 miles. The first time they replaced the seal, the second time they extended the vent tube. This time I also have the grinding noise while taking turns. I called Saturn Corporate this time around to see if I could get a new diff instead of fixing the old one which doesn't seem to solve the problem. The dealer has been nice and I don't have a problem with them at all I just want this problem fixed I still like the car very much but I am starting to get a sour feeling about reliability. I wonder what the percentage of defective rear ends there are. I told them I get asked all the time from people how I like the car and always say I love it but if this keeps happening I'm going to start telling people its a piece of S**t. GM needs to step up to the plate and fix this problem once and for all.

I wish they gave us something comparable to the sky like uh............... another sky.

I am getting ready to take mine in again for the 3rd time cause now the diff is grinding. Last time I got a chevy cobalt that I ended up t-boning a deer with last winter.

if it makes you feel any better, the problem still exists on the 08s. I took mine in for the grinding noise. They just drained and refilled it and put some kind of additive in it. I expect it'll start grinding again fairly soon. I can actually already hear it although it's very mild at the moment. I don't want to take it back until it's noticeable again.

Saturn really needs to step up and issue some kind of recall and replace or repair all the diffs. Seems like this is the most common problem people are having.

Well if the 08's still have the problem that means there is no fix yet and a recall would be expensive endevor that would not do anything. In otherwords it is a Waste of time (theirs and yours) until they find a permanent fix. But they are aware of the problem so it will fixed someday, maybe it will take a complete redesign... who knows..

When did the new beefier differentials come out? I know the one that just got put on my car has a much thicker looking casing.

The redline and the 2.4 do share the same differential don't they?

Be glad they have something for you to drive at all. At the dealership here all they have is their shuttle. They will rent a car for you from enterprise but you have to get reimbursed from corporate, but if the problem is 'not duplicatable' you get stuck with the rental car bill.

The outlook is from enterprise leasing but they told me the saturn dealer is paying the bill. The last time my car was in for service they also provided me with a rental from enterprise and I didn't have to pay anything. As I said in my post my dealer has been great I would just like to get the problem fixed for good if that's possible!
