EcoTec 2.4 Engine - Base engine in the Sky

This was a GM display at SEMA. The engine is being currently used in the HHR, Solstice, and upcoming Sky. Something to look at for those interested in the engine to power your new Sky.

Since this is the "performance" Ecotec I wonder how big the aftermarket will be on it. I'd like to see some 2.4L Hot Cams.

It seems to me that GM is trying to make the Ecotec motor the "small block V8" of 4-cylinder engines. Durable, powerful and lots of bolt on additions.

They are investing a lot of money toward this end. A LOT of money.

Are they serious? Is the combustion chamber really a cylinder in shape?
