emission control light

Our emission control light just came on… the on star said its exhaust problem… we have 26,000 miles on it.. And I had the magnaflo exhaust put on when the car was new… any ideas about the light… what might have happened… what I need to do… I know the end result will be the Saturn dealer… but just curious if anyone has had this problem..

Alot of people have issues with the Cat's. $10 says the dealer blames it on the magnaflo even though the problem has cropped up on quite a few (stock) cars on solstice forum. Usually around 40k miles though.

What was said is that the catalytic converter is bad causing the sensor to throw the emission code. Several have had this replaced because they go bad (Burn Out)

With the Magnaflow exhaust the dealer may try and blame this on your after market exhaust.

Several had to replace the catalytic converter even with the stock exhaust so you may try and argue this point with your dealer if this comes up!

What exactly came up on the DIC? Did you check to see what the code was? If so, what did it read?

My dealer had to replace the catalytic converter when the light came on. Only have about 16000 miles on it. Beginning to wish I had never bought the car. I expected a few problems on a 1st year car, but having to take it in for repairs every couple of months is getting old.
