Help anyone

Maybe this has been address but I can't see it here. I just went out to the car to go to church. I was going to put the top back on and pushed the remote trunk button. Nothing happened. I kept pushing, nothing. Then I pushed the lock and unlock buttons. Nothing! So I thought my remote batteries were dead so I went in and got the other one. SAME THING! So I get in the car to turn it on, and I stick my keys in the ignition, NOTHING! It's completely dead as in it won't turn over or anything. It's like someone zapped it or something. Well, now, my keys are stuck in the ingnition. They won't come out! Is this what happens when the battery goes dead? I've never experienced any problems with it before. It was running fine last night. Please help!!!!!

Same thing happened to me this week. You can get the key out by hooking it up to a charger or jump it to another battery.

I was in for the rear end recall & the service dept left the key on all weekend & killed the battery. went in to pick it up on Mon, got halfway home & the car died on the road. Had it towed back & it sat that night with a dead battery again. they charged it but by the next week it was dead again. They think it might have had a bad cell & replaced it.

I didn't want to tow it again so I hooked up a trickle charger for a few days & drove it in to them.
If you charge it start with 2 or 6 amps.

Call your service department tomorrow & good luck.

Hey, wow that's really scary for it to die on the road. Well AAA just came and jumped it for me. It definitely is a battery issue. I've got it running in the garage right now for a few minutes though I'm afraid that it will die on me when I turn it off. But hopefully I can get it to the dealership tomorrow without having to tow it. Thanks for responding!

This message may come too late, but anyway;
Do not use the alternator to charge up your battery. Alternators are designed to keep your battery charged, not recharge it.
If you run your car with a dead battery, you will soon have a dead alternator.
Charge it up with a battery charger.

I have learned this the hard way.

It's even worse than that, Fritz. Your alternator will not restore a discharged battery. The regulator will cut off current once the battery's voltage shows the correct level, but the battery will have insufficient amperage to qualify as fully-charged. The only way to correctly charge a discharged battery is to put it on an activation charge. This forces current into the battery regardless of voltage. Once you do that, it is best advised to load test the battery. A battery in good condition should take a load of three times the amp hour rating (most car batteries are in the 40 to 50 AH range) or one half the CCA capacity for 15 seconds and not drop below 11V. If you rely on the alternator (bad for the reason you state) or use an automatic charger, all will seem fine until you put a heavy load on the battery, like cold winter day starting.

Had this happen to me....but I was definitely in a better place than you were when it happened. I was ON THE LOT ready to drive away in my brand new RL and both of my fobs didn't work. They took the car and the fobs to the back and it took them about 30 minutes getting it all figured out.

Problem is...they never told me what was wrong or what they did to fix it...
