I have decided to install the radio..but first having the piano black professionally painted silver pearl and clear coated...the cobalt radio chimes were driving me mad...so out with the old. Here is a pic of the old..but asking suggestions if I should have a design painted on the bezel...something simple. The USB will be on the right now and upside down...yes all SKY USB radios were made with their ports upside down GEESH! So much for quality control in GMs China. I wonder where Matt is from GMs consumer unit. Let him fix this (lol)

Rather than paint the Sky radio (and put up with the upside-down port), why not just swap the faceplate with your Cobalt radio? Just a couple of screws and it's plug and play (unless it blows up - in which case, I was never here, you never heard this from me!)

I thought I was able to do that..but the mother board is now one piece..cannot remove the USB part of it...one other thing. I like the amber on our radio. It may be hard to read in the sunlight...but in the evening, the consistency looks richer...remember, it is the faceplate that brings color in all GM radios.

I should have made it clearer...the SKY'S USB is one piece with the mother board...I did take mine apart and could not move it to the other side. GM never realized the USB housings were in reverse.

that is the front of the radio...and when u take that port out...where can u put it on the other side of the mother board? Did I lose something TS?
Just want to change the topic for a moment...there will be a Piggy Bowl coming up in April 20 or 21st...in Delaware. The Mid Atlantic Sky/Solstice gang needs to regroup and this will be it. Many of the forum's original members will be in attendence...who have fled to facebook...but they will be back for this.
Just went back to the Solstice forum and looked at your terrific rerouting...do u think I am nuts? Don't answer that. By the way, what did u do with the SKY's faceplate...if u have it still ...would be interested in it.

Ahh, yes you won't be able to move it all the way to the other side. Sorry.
As for the old Sky faceplate, that's long gone to someone else. (Again, sorry )

MM - I hate to say it, but save the USB radio as a quaint collectible and install a first rate double-DIN modern radio/GPS/DVD/etc.
Glad to see mike isnt just hoarding it lol! Although in march this is what I am doing. Since i have an iphone 5, there is not a head unit out that will broadcast video from it, until march.
