Major mechanical failure listing

If you've broke a major mechanical part on your sky/sol, post what it is here, and how/why it broke and/or the root cause. This thread isnt for broke cupholders or torn tops, but major mechanical parts (engine, driveline, suspension)

I broke the 3/4 shift fork on the manual trans for no apparent reason a month or two back. Dealer warrantied.

Can you elaborate?

I'm actually on my 3rd tranny right now. Each of the previous two times I couldn't downshift from 5th into 4th. They didn't actually say what was the cause directly. First time they covered it. Second time they claim user abuse and didn't. 4K out of my pocket. Not happy and thinking of pursuing something about it.

Also, new diff. I've broke the diff case and sheared the mount from running over something on the highway just as I was shifting. Shift, power, flex, hit object, BOOM. I also think the mount may have been going before and this just killed it, but there was no way to prove it either way. Went through insurance on this one, ended up being about 2K out of my pocket for that.

On the one good side, since I paid for this last tranny, the old one is technically mine. I'm going to pick it up and drop it in the garage and if anything else happens in the future, I'm just taking it to a race shop and having them build up and strengthen the old one. Screw playing around, I'll just turn it into a 500 hp tranny. I suspect the Tranny mounts on our cars isn't the best. Each time they put the new tranny in, it feels great and tight. Now even with just 1,000 miles on the new trans, if feels like the tolerances have increased, it's sloppier, and it's starting to sound a tiny bit clunky. Before this last tranny swap, the entire trans felt like it was moving up and down when power was applied, in fact, the shift knob would move a good 1-1.5 inches vertically up and down when power was applied or taken off.

All of these things I'm going to have a local race shop check out for me.

Basically I shifted into third gear and it went into the gate, but there was no gear there. Fourth was the same story. I was driving around town 1-2-5 to limp it to the dealership. What we really need is a T56
