My Sky Died Today :(

I was going down the highway with the cruise set and all of the sudden she started powering down and all the warning lights and messages came on. I think it was the traction and ABS lights and also was saying several messages about the engine power reduced, no traction, and ABS needs service. Anyway, so I hit the OnStar button as I'm getting off the exit ramp (Thank God there was one close!!) I pull to the side and put it in park and the whole car is shaking and the engine was revving slow. After the OnStar guy was checking the codes, he told me to turn it off. Then later when I tried to restart, it would not crank, it just clicked.

A while later, Onstar quit working because my battery went totally dead so we kept talking on my cell. Saturn Roadside Assistance got me tow truck which took about 1.5 to 2 hours. Since its Saturday afternoon, the service department at my dealership is closed and I can't get a loaner car, so I called mom to come pick me up. I asked the lady on the phone, what if I was stranded and had no one to come pick me up what would I do. She said they could refer me to a cab company or a rental car company like Enterprise and I said so what...I would have to pay for it? She said yes, Saturn Roadside doesn't cover that. I thought that was crazy!!

So, the tow truck got there and the guy was hacking and coughing while smoking a cigarette and was like "I've never towed one of them there cars before." I stood there and watched him do it and thank God he didn't scrap it. I told him I just had the bottom of the front bumper repainted and not to mess it up!

Anyway, so my car is sitting at the dealership, I guess....unless the tow truck guy stole it. I'll have to call the dealership first thing Monday morning or they will be wondering why theres a dead Sky sitting there. Then I'll go and get that loaner car too. Maybe I should demand a Cadillac from next door instead of the new Vue.

Here's a few pics of it being towed...

EDIT: Oh....I forgot, last week I got my 1st speeding ticket in the Sky! I admit, I wasn't even paying attention to my speed. I was clocked at 82 in a 65. So the past week or two haven't been so great.

Not good, this is becoming an old familiar theme it looks like. An R/L on a flatbed.. Hope they can figure out what happened to yours.. I am wondering, are the GXP's having any of the problems and issues?

That just plain sucks, why does this keep happening? What would have happened if you or any one of us were away for Thanksgiving and 100's of miles from home. Like all the big weekend plans for next year as well. Well thank goodness Anita was available to come get you. Please keep us updated. Those are sad pictures, seeing a Sky on a flatbed.

Heres hoping it is a quick fix

Seeing a SKY, any SKY, on the back of a tow truck is never a pretty site. Real sorry this happened, and let's all just hope it's a quick fix.

Hey...and slow down. At your age, those speeding tickets will really raise hell with your insurance rates.

Lucas!! I am sorry about your Sky. And I am sorry I didn't get your call when you called yesterday. We were in Blowing Rock and I didn't have a signal for a while. I got your message on my way home. Hopefully they will get you all fixed up and in a nice car until they do.

Oh, one more thing. Don't plan on any kind of a nice car. When Demon was in the shop for 3 days, they gave me a piece of crap Chevy. Brand new, but still a piece of crap. Crank windows, no arm rest, no key fob, nothing. As basic as you can get. Oh yea, it did have xm radio. Go figure that out.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! I hope it's nothing major.

OlSkyDriver...the few times I've taken her in, they gave me an 08 Vue. One time I started out with the Aura and I didn't like driving it so they told me I could bring it back for a Vue.

So Sorry!

Wow Lucas cannot believe after one year you car threw all those codes and the battery went dead, scary
I hope its something as simple as water in your gas, not that would be good but dang to completely shut down like that
I guess if your 100's of miles from home we all had better hope the Saturn dealer has a hotel close and just ride with the tow truck to the dealer when the car shuts down like that and get a room.
Post Monday and let us know what the dealer has to say about you poor broken R/L Sky.

I can't believe it either! I've got 18,000 miles on her and I'm approaching my one year anniversary on the 27th. I hope it's nothing major but someone told me it could have just been a loose battery terminal. If thats all it ends up being, I will be so embarrassed!! But, OnStar insisted it was serious since it threw all the codes and to get it towed so WHO KNOWS!

Oh...I had my aunt ride by the dealership since she lives really close to make sure its there. Thank God it is!

Well, in that regards, you are lucky. My dealer doesn't do loaners, they get cheap junk from Enterprise.

Hi Lucas!
Miss you and your Mom. SOOOOOO Sorry your Sky fell from the Sky. She will be all better soon. Yep, I would have an eagle eye on that tow truck guy...you bet!

Remind your Mom I still have my georgeous yellow Sky for sale. She dosen't really need the turbo power...does she? It will feel like a race car compared to her H2. Yep

Can anyone confirm the trend with with this "Power Reduced Issue". Seems from reading alot of the posts, the 2007 proudction year has issues with early failure of the fuel pump. Is anyone else making this connection?

There has only been 1 fuel pump issue so far on a 2008 . 2007 redline had repeat had an issue with spark plugs. No issues with plugs on 2008....Skip...read the forum for confirmation.....

Three redline fuel pumps out of how many redlines?..They have had more problems with spark plugs than fuel pumps...Skip...

I had the reduced power issue the day I took delivery. All types of fuel system codes were set in the ECM, however, thanks to my facility, they as usual, investigated pretty well and found a bulletin that applies to both 07 and 08 that replaces the underhood junction block due to crimped terminals, not a fuel pump issue per se. As the temp rises under the hood, the terminals get loose and start cutting out the fuel system. Usually restarted after about 5 mins of sitting. Have them check the bulletin if the codes are all fuel system related.

There are several that have had fuel system issues (mine included)...not sure it's all the fuel pump though!
