Octane boosters

Already did a search, didn't find the answer.
Found a product from NOS that states 6 point increase in octane. It uses MMT. Also states not for street use, racing only. Safe for turbos and cats.
If we are good to 91 octane, will higher than 91 hurt?
If I get 89 gas + 6 = 95 octane.

points

I am fairly sure that an octane point is about 1/15th of one octane level. so 89octane + 6pts would be around 89.4

it says "up to 60 points or 6 full octane numbers" 10 points = 1 octane number?

"Point" means .1

6 Points = .6 Octane Increase.

Thats right, my bad 10pts to one octane. Still, I have never seen one with a 60pt increase. What is the full name of the NOS octane booster?

the one I looked at was the racing formula, now back to my question;
Is octane over 91 bad for our engines(short term=1 tank).

This stuff is not going to get you to 91 Octane, so knock yourself out. It sayis it will raise octane by 7 points. That means your tank of 89 octane gas will jump all the way up to ALMOST 90 octane.

In New York, 93 octane from the pump. The car computer learns as you drive and adjust for octane level. Here in Phoenix, 91 octane is available.
For normal daily driving it is hard to see much difference. If you jack rabbit start I guess it becomes noticeable. But the higher octane gets better MPG to start with, so it actually is cheaper to use than regular.

Owner's Manual recommends you not use MMT, claiming it can reduce spark plug life and affect the emission control system.

Here are results of tests on your NOS Racing Formula octane booster by European Car Web Octane Boosters Testing - Tech Review - European Car Magazine:

We chose Nitrous Oxide Systems' (NOS) Racing Formula octane booster, which uses MMT as its active ingredient, and Outlaw's Super Concentrated Octane Booster, which uses ferosene. Outlaw originally had off-road and street formulations, but just recently combined the two into just one street-legal formulation. The toluene mixture we tested was based on an Internet-sourced home brew.Saybolt LP, a division of Core Laboratories, performed a certified, independent octane test on samples of three different types of octane boosters we prepared. Each sample, along with the base fuel, was tested for research octane number (RON) and motor octane number (MON), as prescribed by ASTM Method D-2699 and D-2700, respectively.
The resulting pump octane number--also referred to as antiknock index (AKI)--was calculated using the (R+M)/2 method, which takes the average of RON and MON. These tests have a repeatability (same operator/same lab) of 0.2 octane for both RON and MON, and a reproducibility (different operators in different labs) of 0.7 for RON and 0.9 for MON. In addition to octane testing, each sample's specific gravity, or density, was tested according to ASTM method D-4052.

Just dump in a gallon of toluene to a tank of gas!

(putting on flame proof suit now!)
