Paint off color factory

I noticed today as far as the last few weeks that my door on my silver sky RL does not match the rest of the car. Does anyone else have this problem could be just viewing angle.

Now I noticed when I first washed it my rear trunk was not fitting right and the paint was all messed up on it as well. It was a factory mess up. They fixed it, but now I am noticing more discoloration on the side. When I look at it from the side my door looks darker than the rest of the car.

Many cars get shipping damage, which is repaired at the destination. It could be just a little nick that caused the door to need a respray. It's very unlikely that this color difference occured at the factory. Ask your retailer to look into this for you. I'm sure they know, but you'll at least set up a dialog to have the door resprayed a little better.

My friends husband owns a paint shop, silver is the hardest to match. He usually paints the whole car(depending on the damage) when that color needs bump/paint.....hopefully that wasn't the case, but if they just painted the door for whatever reason, there will be a noticable difference.

I agree with all the above statements. They should respray it and blend it into the panels next to the door. When you re-paint a car, you ALWAYS hit the panels on either side with a blending coat and clear!

I always look at that when I pick up a new car, if I saw that I would not take it! If you picked it up fairly recently I know Saturn gives a certain amount of time to return. Call the dealer and swap it out if you can!

Hmm, I have the same problem. The service dept. said that the light reacts differently with the silver pearl and depending on the angle the door can appear a different shade.

I've been skeptical of this as it seems they always (no matter from what angle) appear a darker shade than the rest of the car. I'll have to take it back and have them look at it.

Same here, when I took delivery I questioned it.. Dealer also said it was the way the light reflects at different angles.. showed me another silver Sky on lot, had SAME thing there.. so I guess its just a "light reflection" thing

Still bothers me when I see it

Just one more reason to buy CHILLI PEPPER RED. A SKY should not be any other color, except maybe yellow.

If you look at my silver pearl from one angle, it looks ok. From another angle, the fenders/door/hood will look different. From another angle, they look the same.

I was at a paint shop this past week and they pointed out that my car was several different colors. The hood did not match the bumber or the side panels or door and they all don't match each other.

I was at another dealership Acura... LOL and they said the same thing. Embarrassing especially a new car. GM.... Hummm! No wonder they are loosing dough.

I called Saturn and I am taking it over to be investigated. Also I noticed several paint inperfections in the spray marks on the car. You can see where there are different levels of paint spray even the round spray marks of the paint gun in the paint. My car must have been a friday car for the robots.

I am going to ask that they at least make my car one solid color.

The only thing I have noticed on Jade is that the spoiler is a slightly darker shade of green.... you cant really notice it unless you are looking for it.... SkyBaby

Saturn Repairs for Delivery Damage cost US money!!

A friend of mine traded in a Black Sky for a SLK. The top notch Mercedes dealership appraiser used an instrument to test the paint thickness all over her car. They determined the driver door had been repainted, which suggested a crash. They belived my friend that it was never in a wreck and had never been repaired since they took delivery from the dealer. And that it may have been damaged in shipping...BUT...they gave her alot LESS money after finding it out since it now had to be listed as a Wrecked Vehicle.
