reBAR Installed

Here are some pics of my reBAR from Kappasphere. Took about 15 minutes to install. It just rained here, so yes the car is dirty. I'll have to test out how it handles differently and do another post.

It's not necessary to jack up the car unless you have a problem with fitting into small spaces. Here's a document that may come in handy if you don't feel like looking it up, or haven't jacked up the car before.

DDM is about to introduce their new Rear Suspension brace. I think it is going to be called "TorkFlex" rear suspension brace . It is designed so that it will work with all brands of aftermarket exhausts and provide adequate ground clearance. Check them out and tell them Sky Hi sent you!

Report

Drove it this weekend to see if I could tell any difference. May be psychological, but it appears to be more of a go-cart now than it already was. Very responsive and a little stiffer with steering.

Coworker was behind me after work today. Cell phone rang and he said, "Dude, your pipes are all jacked up - crooked". When I had installed the reBAR, I had to use a jack to make the holes line up on one side (driver's side). The pipe was sitting on the reBAR, but I didn't give it a second thought. I have a KS2 pipe and it was installed as directed with the existing rubber bushings, etc. Apparently my exhaust is sliding all over the place as I drive because it's resting on the reBAR and not clearing it as I thought it would. If I can't alleviate the problem, the reBAR will be reMOVED.

well, they installed it on their test car which does have the KS2 exhaust, so I'm guessing something is wrong here.

And i'm sorry, man, no disrespect, but you are a little quick to trash anything non-rpi. Not saying it's not good stuff, but you're getting a little retarted with things. I mean, even Eloy himself talks well of certain other companies out of honesty and respect, at least you could try too, seeing as you've pretty much been a "yes man" to his posts. You just bash anything not RPI. No offense man, but you definitely come off as a jerk. Just an outsiders opinion. Rather than blindly bashing a product before ANY troubleshooting has been discussed, we should all try to help resolve jel's issue.

Perhaps with the jacking, the suspension was either tensioned or relaxed and when let back down things shifted? Definitely give brian an email or a call.

I have to say I agree with Antonio whole heartedly.

I cannot believe that Kappasphere would make that newbie of an error. I think we need to give the guys over there a minute to respond to the issue.
John D had this bar on his car with the Magnaflow system and did not have any issues that he mentioned. Maybe he too can give you his opinion. I too would be upset if this happened to me, but I think rational, well thought out solutions is the way to go. You seemed to like the tightness the bar offered, since you spent the time and money, it may be worth the effort to research.

I would have to guess, if not a design flaw, that this is caused by the position of the mounting points during the tightening stage. I was actually wondering about this when I was considering buying this bar. Does the car need to be up on a lift in order to put this on, then lowered to sitting position BEFORE tightening???

Or is it better to put up on a lift with wheel tracks that you drive on so that even up in the air the car is sitting.

THE POSITION OF THE MOUNTING POINTS, WHEN THIS BAR IS TIGHTENED, MUST EFFECT PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT!!!

Well Kappasphere, you need to chime in here!!

Lifting the car is immaterial. It doesn't move the points of entry for the bolts. Lifting is effectively for those who can't fit under the car to install it. The holes do not move when the car is lifted.

i forget the name, but a sol forum member installed his reBAR just fine without jacking the car at all. Didn't say anything about fit issues. That's also how i'll be installing mine when it arrives.

EDIT: I wonder if it's a 2.4NA vs. Redline issue? i doubt they'd change the frame mounting points between the two, but it's just a thought.

The instructions say to lift the car first. Therefore, the reason to lift would be because someone can't access the area. So, given that, it's not necessary to lift the car first, which you mention repeatedly in your post. Lifting has nothing to do with alignment of this mod.
