Rerouting Brake Intake to CAI

So, we all know the Fujita Cold Air Intake has actually proven itself to be a hot air intake robbing the engine of horsepower. My question is will it hurt the engine to reroute the brake cooling ducts using high heat PVC pipe to feed directly into the cold air intake? My guiding concern is that there is nowhere for this extra air to get vented out of the engine bay so will this drastically hurt the engines performance? I have the Hahn intercooler so I don't think overheating will be an issue.

Any thoughts? Should I just try it and see if I throw a code?

i really dont see how you would throw a code of any kind, if anything youll get more cool air into the intake and whatever air it doesnt suck up will go into the engine bay slightly cooling off engine parts, not very effectively, but cooling nonetheless. you could run this plus a hood with a heat diffuser and possibly see some cooler intake temps plus cooler engine temps. i think its worth doing, i dont see it hurting ANYTHING at all, i think the intake air temperature will drastically be reduced when driving which means more power.

The fujita intake, and many others, get their air from basically the same spot as the stock airbox. Since there isnt any source of fresh air even into the stock airbox, all these intakes are "hot air" intakes. But when you datalog the temps of the stock or aftermarket intake you'll see the temps are only 5 degrees hotter than ambient, not really hot air is it?

Now as for bringing in cold air from the outside, rpi seemed to have done it right. You need to chop off the baffles in the airbox, cut some holes in the plastic cover below and feed it into the airbox.
Using the brake ducts wont work since there isnt any room to run any ducting hose. Since you guys have a faux grill up front you might be able to put some holes behind it to get some fresh air into the engine bay.

you can run some ducting hose it just has to be a small diameter piping like 2" or so. if you can set it up right you should see some improvement. i think its worth a try if you can mold plastic. it would really help if you could do the rpi mod and make the brake vents work, the more cool air the better. i might try this after i get a bigger ic in a couple weeks.

That ducting hose will be squished and bent like crazy, theres just so much in the way.
But if you manage to get it working post some pics.

yeah itd be all bent and stuff which is why its almost not worth doing. id mainly want to do it, both the shroud and the brake vents, for looks, paint em and all, and have a slight performance increase as a plus. im thinking, for aftermarket cais, that itd be a good idea to surround the back of the cone filter with a plastic mold to keep engine heat away from it, and run both the shroud and brake vents to that mold. itd basically be like the stock intake except you would get more air into the engine plus that air would be cooler. id think itd look pretty sick once it was finished and painted, or maybe in cf.

The Fujita works good, but the problem is not hot air it is the way the Air sensor fits in the tube and measures the air robbing the car all the power. I think the tube needs to be widened at a certain point to fix the airflow problem if you want cold from the ducts just route a hose or cut a hole in the black cover where the CAI fits over. That air is from the ground and fin ducted straight up to the radiator.
