Newer Corvettes are front engine, rear transaxle, right? How would you make them less conventional?

V8 muscle is born and bred in America. You might as well put it next to the apple pie. Americans need that low RPM rumble. The Europeans can stick with their whinny ass (pun intended) spinners and shakers.

j/k.

Jeremy (Top Gear) put it best during some tunnel blasting...it's a symphony. YouTube - supercars in tunnel

Yep, although a 60* V12 sounds delicious (think mercedes SL600 and Aston Martin Vanquish and DB9/DBS)

No, no, please don't take offense on Corvette's part...that's not a disparaging statement I made, it's about undertanding their market positioning and the maintaining of a long-standing tradition. The Corvette is intentionally NOT a high-tech, four-cam, four-valve twin-turbo AWD extravaganza, because that's the way GM decided they would keep it. And a superb job they've done!

And this more traditional market may well prefer the concept of supercharging

There's many ways that GM has, to their credit, intentionally resisted...AWD and mid-engine among them. They've decided to keep the 'Vette what it's always been. I applaud the decision!
