Scratches on Radio Faceplate

Is anyone having a problem with this? I've tried searching but can't come up with my problem. My first radio had a few scratches when I picked it up. (I've had it for about a year). It wasn't bad so I didn't bother to do anything at the time. As time went on the scratches got worse. My dealership replaced the entire radio a couple of weeks ago.

I've been very careful to not even touch the faceplate of this radio but now scratches are appearing on this one. It really looks like it is on the inside of the faceplate but I'm not sure about that.

Any help out there?

Debbie

Scratches

Yeah the radio faceplate and the black plastic around it. Seems like everytime you touch it or clean it, it scratches. I use air to blow it now. Seems to like that better.

Scratches

I use a fine bristle brush to clean mine and McGuire's plastic wax on mine. It works pretty good.

My radio faceplate was scratched when I picked it up and the dealership is replacing it.

However, I use a silk cloth made for cleaning eye glasses. It hasn't left any scratches at all. However, it does get some static build up that can sometimes make it hard to pick up dust. But, dust is better than scratches.

Oh, as well, it works very well for lifting fingerprints.

I never use any paper products to clean my smooth plastic pieces. Microfiber towel or my silk rag is all that ever touches that plastic...and I don't use chemicals either. Sometimes a little water is all I use.

I spray a neutral car glass cleaner (like invisible glass or one of 2-3 "other" car glass cleaners I have on hand) on a micro-fiber towel, OR this glass towel I also have, works great 14 months so far and not a scratch or mark in the interior-- NO WINDEX or house hold cleaners, to chemically and some have ammonia and other harsh chemicals--

Use the Novus Plastic Polish for repairs to smooth plastics.
It is a 3-part system for scratches & gouges. (1. clean / 3. repair / 2. restore )
We also use it for general cleaning (just use 1 & 2 for that).

It works great & many in the aviation community use it.

It can be found at many auto parts stores, auto paint stores, aviation suppliers, or online.

As an owner of several IPODS, similar problems with scratching is well known in that community. A preferred solution that works for me is Brasso. Its a metal polish and will buff out just about anything that is buffable . . . Works great.

I have used Plexus plastic cleaner/protector... seems to keep scratches away. Bought it at JC Whitney.

VERY good stuff. Used it in the military, and use it on our motorcycle windshield's and helmet visors. Used enough, it will actually fill in minor scratches.

I have a scratch on mine as well and can't figure out how it could of possible got there. I am so careful. I also have scratches to the right of my drivers seat to the right of the storage compartment. i can't imagine how they got there either. Very strange. I will take some of the good advice here and try some of those products to try and buff it out.
