Stone impingement kit P/N

Does anybody have the P/N for the GM (Saturn) stone impingement kit shown in the exterior accessiores on the Saturn website? My dealer can't find a P/N.
Thanks

Yes I think it its. It is listed on the Sky web page under exterior accessories. I asume it goes on the rear quarter panel dog leg, in front of the rear wheel. Prevents sandblasting effect. I guess if GM doesn't come through, I'll get some film and cut my own.

The GM P/N is 19170300. MSRP is $90.00. It is a kit that covers the rocker panels from right behind the front wheel all the way back to the front of the rear wheel. It goes up the dog leg in front of the rear wheel to the level of the third push pin on the wheel house liner.

The kit is intended to reduce paint chips from rocks / gravel thrown up by the front wheel.

I'll post up some pics when it warms up enough to get it installed.

Are you sure on that part number? I searched Fred Beans and GMpartsdirect, and neither liked that part number. Anyway, keep us updated on this.

Thanks,
Rich

I did a web search for clear bra and found many sites that sell at very good prices. I bought a set for my Sol and installed it myself for less than $500 in two evenings after work. I then ordered a strip and cut door guard strips for both doors to help protect from door dings in the parking lot.

I'm getting this installed next Saturday at my dealer. Apparently, it is NOT easy to install.......comes in 3 pieces to make it easier but you have to be very patient when putting it on. I'll let you guys know how it goes and post some pics if you'd like. Goes about 8 in. up the rocker panel in front of the rear wheels.

I bought a full front set off ebay (xtremecity), and if the weather gets a little more crappy out here I'll get around to installing it. Right now it's way to nice to be stuck in the garage for several hours . . . .

Hey Showtyme5, if it's clear, what will the pictures look like ????

I got them installed this weekend. There are only two pieces per side as opposed to the three that I thought there were. The rear piece covers the rear dog leg up to about the third inner wheel house clip and forward to when the door opening becomes level. The front part covers from the rear edge of the front wheel house back to the seam with the rocker. It goes up to just below the GM emblem. Pictures would do no good since they are hard to see. The dog leg part takes some patience and a heat gun to get the film to conform to the compound curves. I'm happy with the results. I'll scan the instructions that came with them and post

I heard it's easier to see the seams on dark colored Sky's.........is it noticeable on your black Sky?

I noticed today I am getting chips in front of the rear wheel. I waitied to take the car out until the rain and cars washed away most of the winter grit, even had street sweepers go through some towns It seems I still constantly hear gravel \ grit hitting the car. I really don't want to wait until JUne to drive my car.

So, does just about everyone have chips in front of their rear wheel that doesn't use some film type covering? I am really reluctant to put film on the car becuase I don't want to see the seem and have people walk by and go "oh they have plastic on their car. Then again they can always say "look at all of the chips in the paint" if I don't. Comments \ Advice?

I had to already have the rear quarters repainted as I took my baby on the back dirt roads in vermont before installing the film. I would strongly suggest atleast getting the part in front of the rear wheels done at a min. I had just about the whole car and it will be worth it in the end. I plan on keeping this limited edition for a very long time.

Does anyone know the difference that makes the Saturn one is $90 and the Kappasphere one $244? I saw posts that folks paid $95, then it went up to $140. I was really surprised to see it at $244.

Well I installed 3M every where I thought damage might occurred, hood, front bumper, the 2 mirrors and all 3 lights. I then installed the "splash guards" in the hope that it would prevent that kind of damage in front of the rear wheels & in back of the fronts. I can testify to the fact that my area in that part (rear) has been chipped up a bit. In hind sight, I should of added 3M on those areas. I was under the impression that the guards would do the job, it will not protect those areas. Finally, at the time, I don't know if 3M covered or made pieces for those areas. However, I noticed that the pieces that my 3M installer brought, they were "pre-cut" on the 3 or 4 sheets I paid for, they had extra pieces that were cut & not used and we did not know what part they were for and were thrown away, perhaps those pieces were for the quarter panels.. to this day, I donno if that is a fact..

Just ordered the kit with that part number. I guess I'll find out if it is correct.

Does it come with instructions? Is installation easy or difficult?

Thanks,
Rich
