Subwoofer Swap

Hello, would like to upgrade my audio system and wanted to know if

MTX Audio RTS8-04 8" Single 4 ohm RoadThunder Series Subwoofer

would fit in the stock enclosure? Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the stock woofer? I looks like this sub at 4" should fit, tightly but fit none the less. I currently have the pioneer 8" flat sub installed but need something with a little more boom

Just adding a new sub might not get you what you want. Upgrading the system typically involves a new amp. As for fit I don't know.

Oops sorry i left that part out, I added an amp in the trunk, to power the sub and left the monsoon amp for the internal speakers (which i also upgraded to the kappa's 60.9 components)

Might well NOT fit. I have a Kicker sub in mine with a top-mount depth of 3-7/16" and that JUST fit (plus I had a 1/4" birch-ply mounting ring adapter). I think that maybe 3 1/2" is a reasonable limit, unless of course you add a thicker adapter ring on top of the enclosure.

How is that kicker working out for you? I have the pioneer flat sub and its ok but 120rms is pretty weaksauce

It's fine for me, but I'm really not a phreak. So might well not be loud enough for your taste

As for your other sub, get it and see. Worst comes to worst, you'll have to cut or buy an MDF ring. You'll probably need a ring anyway, since the likelihood of your sub mount holes matching up with the sub box ones are slim. So I cut my own, screwed it to the box, then screwed the sub to the ring.
