"SVC BRAKE SYSTEM" Message on DIC

Anybody getting this message? I got it three times and took my RL to the dealer a couple weeks ago. There was nothing wrong with the brakes (as suspected). They reloaded some software and the problem seemed to go away, but now it's back. I've gotten it three more times now.

In each case...

Cruise Control was engaged
I was well into a road trip (200+ miles)
Last two times the mileage had just flipped 4000 and 4100. The previous time was close to 3000. Don't know about the first three times.

I probably won't get a chance to take it to the dealer again until late April (heading to Africa again). Any ideas?

What was the error code? It is my understanding there are several things that can trigger that message, such as Hydraulic boost, which won't really manifest itself in performance under most driving conditions.

Could be a sensor.

That's exactly what it said. "SVC BRAKE SYSTEM"

Looking at the nice piece of paper the dealer gave me last time, their comments were...

Quote:
Tech verified cust concern. Found DTC in system. Tech contacted TAC and was referred to bulletin 07-05-25-007. Tech reprogrammed EBCM. Operates to factory specs.

Hmmm... Interesting.

I was not using the brakes at all when I got the messages.

BTW... I got another weird message today. I was accelerating on a dry road and got a "Low Traction" message. I'm wondering if I just might have a bad sensor.

Thanks Skip!

I got this same error message today on the LISSC Hamptons Run. We started around 8:30 and drove pretty much all day. Around 3:00 I looked down and noticed I had the error message. It stayed on for a while but then we did a 5 minute bathroom break and it went away. Does anybody have any further input as to what this could be?

Low Traction means you need to get off the gas pedal, you're spinning the back tires (either because of excessive acceleration, or a bump in the road brought the tire off the ground)

I wasn't accelerating THAT much. Anyway, my Sky sat parked for about five months while I was in Africa. In the two weeks I've been back, I haven't gotten any error messages. Go figure!

The low traction warning is simply your tires are spinning, stop spinning your tires and this will go away! You can shut off traction control and this message will not show up next time your tires slip.

What was asked was what was the error code not what was showing on the display. If you have a scan tool you can read an error code witch will tell you what is causing the warning message. Could have been that in cruise mode your break pressure was low and threw the code, or something else.

A scan tool will give you the exact code and tell you what is causing this!

Find someone with an ODBII scan tool, or I believe OnStar can tell you what the code is.
