Two Bulletins

Saw some drips from my 2.4's rear end area when I took it out of the garage along with a rear end whine (had notice previously ). So I took her into the dealer yesterday, thinking that it was the pinon seal like my Redline experienced that I had taken care of last month (Recall pending on everyone's rear end pinon seal).

Was advised that the pinon seal was not leaking and that they wanted to wait until the recall "officially" was released in case the parts they currently have in stock are replaced with new ones from the recall. However, they indicated that there was some leaking from a previous bulletin that they had been provided and that they had ordered the parts to fix that issue and they provided me with the two bulletins.

1) Shudder or Bind on Low Speed Turns - axle differential groan growl moan noise rear slow vibration #PIP3152J (02/09/2007) 2006-2007 Solstice 2007 Sky

On this one they go through a series of fluid removals, flushes, replacement, and possible rear differential right and left clutch pack replacements until the problem is abaded.

2) Axle Fluid Seeping or Leaking from Rear Axle Vent (Install Rear Differential Hose and Vent) #07-04-20-001A (11/08/2007) 2006-2008 Solstice 2007-2008 Sky 2007-2008 Opel GT 2007-2008 Daewoo G2X

On this one they completely remove the existing vent (plastic) and install a rear differential hose, clamps and a new metal differential vent following specific procedures, including tie strapping the hose and vent into a position so that the metal vent does not end up rattling against a frame member.

So once the parts come in they will complete both bulletin requirements on my 2.4. Then I'm going to ask them if the incorproated those two bulletins on my Redline when it was in for the rear pinon seal replacement , or should I make additional arrangements for that work.

You might want to check with your dealers to see if they are incorporating those bulletins within their maintenance activities of your babies.

Sorry to see that you're having some issues, but THIS statement from your dealership concerns me.

IF the pinion seal 'were' leaking they should STILL do the repair as directed per the information they were sent on December 21, 2007.

The pinion seals they have on their shelves are NOT to be used as they have been discontinued and replaced with a replaced with the new KIT (pinion seal, yoke, and nut).

Here is a thread started by Small Dealer over on Solstice Forum that provides much information in regard to this recall: http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...62&postcount=1

fog inside of tail lights

When it's cold outside, around 44, I'm getting a little bit of fog inside the tail lights. Any body have this issue? I'm taking the car for LO JACK install at the dealer on Thursday. I'll see what they have to say.

See my thread here:

Condensation in Rear Tail Lights?

I took it back to dealer and they say they are fine....supposedly this is okay. It clears up after the weather heats up. I guess they have an air vent.....

I experience fogging as well in colder weather....but that's most likely just water vapor coming in around the bulbs. I do believe the enclosure also has a drain of some sort. I'd only be worried if you saw actual water in there or droplets, but fog I wouldn't worry too much about.

fog inside the tail lights

Thanks for the input. In my type of work we would call this a system signature. It does evaporate after a couple of hours. Thanks again

The tail lights will have condensation inside cause they are vented to the outside air. The lights have weep holes in them. BUT there should not be standing water in side the housings....Skip....
