Whats with this car??????

I was messing around today and was trying to smoke the tires and this stupid car wont let me. I have an auto and when I reved it so I could through it into drive it would not let me go past 4000 rpm's, so I then tried to put the hand brake on and even with the brake all the way up the car started to move, so then I tried putting my foot on the brake and give it gas at the same time and again it would not let me go past 2000 rpm's. I guess that IF you have an auto you are not allowed to smoke the tires. or atleast not without a ECU tune. Just had to vent my frustration.

Welcome to the world of traction control. It's actually meant to do exactly what its doing. For normal drivers "wheel spin" in any form is considered a bad thing.

I'm in the exact same sad situation!

Yeah hinesite is 20/20 If I had known that my wife would refuse to drive the car and I couldn't spin the tires I would have gotten the stick. oh well not much I can do now except get a new one and that is NOT going to happen. End I didn't know that the 2.4 had traction control or are you talking about the limited slip diff

Can't you puch the button and turn off the TC and ESC like you can on the manual 5 speeds?

1st thing I do when I start up is push the button to turn that off.........it only gets used in the rain and if I'm pushin it through the twisties

The handbrake isn't going to help you. It's a rwd car. Turn the traction control completely off and powerbrake (brake and gas). Or turn the wheel all the way right or left and floor it.

Yeah yeah, all I know is that my car has no button to turn it off, pretty sure that was one of those fancy "options" on the 2007's!

Dude, that is just asking for very expensive tranny and engine repairs.

The TC and ECS are on the Red line only I have the original so with a 2.4 I am only able to have the LSD and Friz I know it was just to see if that would give me the results I was looking for I don't plan on doing it ever again but think you for the warning.

you could always let some air out the rear tires and/or spray the tread with tire gloss. that get them spinnin'

i dont know why you would want to do that in the first place though.......

Try bleach instead of tire shine. Cheaper and off your tires when you're done. -J

You may have a tough time spinning the wheels on a 2.4. Just not enough torque on the base engine to do it easily. Go to an empty parking lot after it rains. This should work for you.

My previous car was a Mustang GT. I could spin the wheels all the way through 3rd gear with a stock setup. Can't even come close with my redline.I can get a good spin in first gear , but haven't mastered transitioning into 2nd. ... but then again i didn't get this car to spin my wheels.
