What's the purpose of this?

So this was on the car when I bought it. It has a line from the valve cover (You can see where it goes in on the right of the pic) and another to my intake pipe. Can someone tell me it's purpose?

I'm thinking it has something to do with EGR, but I just like to know the function of everything on my car.

That black box beside the fusebox is not a factory part.

It has all the looks (and features) of a home-made oil catch can.

Wow, really?(That goes to all your seasoned members guessing away). Obviously the previous owner had installed a DDMWorks oil catch can(not custom). Here is a pic of mine that is the DDMWorks can.


The reason you put this on your car is to prevent oil(blow back) from getting in your intake system. This can will "Catch" or collect the blow back and in turn keeping your engine clean and efficient(You never want blow back getting into parts like your intercooler as it can begin to lose its efficiency in cooling. The LNF is actually a good motor and is not known for producing low amounts of blow back.
