Wind Restrictor

Ok got a problem,

I had a friend finish putting on my WR yesterday. I had started to do it myself, but the directions are very confusing and not written very well in my opinion. My friend had problems as well and he's an expert at these cars. I was told by WR to tap into the chocolate brown wire if I wanted them to come on when my lights came on in the evening, which I then told my friend. That was done. It lights up just fine, but now my yellow ABS brake light has come on permanently and the WR is lit all the time the minute I turn on my car. I wanted it come on automatically the same time my lights come on in the evening. Is there a way to fix this, is there another wire that I should tap into or would it be easier if I just get a separate switch or button that I can install to where I can just turn it on when I want to? Thank you.

Mine is hooked to the choclate brown wire and lights up when my lights come on with no problem. Be careful, there are 2 wires that color, I found it by trying both. That is not really windrestrictors fault, 2 brown wires you can blame GM.

Humm, so you are saying there are 2 chocolate brown wires? We saw others like a tan color but we were only looking towards the top. Do you think the other dark brown wire is located down inside or underneath where you can't see it?

Here a pic of the harness. That blue one is for the brakes that I am using. You can see a 2 "light" brown or tan colored wires, and towards the bottom a "darker' brown wire. Which one did you tap into? Actually I see 3 wires sorta brownish/tanish hmmm.. I guess it will depend how dark you like your chocalate...

My Redline has 2 of the dark brown and I am not sure how many light brown.

Do not cut these wires....just bare some insulation all the way around and wrap your wire at the bare spot!

Hope this doesnt make you feel bad, but my 51 year old Blonde wife installed our lighted wind restrictor. Not kidding, she really did.

Call Stephen at Wind Restrictor - he will talk you through with no problem.

He will even set up an after-hours call if you need to & let him know ahead of time. Can't ask for better service than that!

Hey, well right now it's tapped into the lighter tan one. At first it was the dark chocolate brown wire that caused the ABS brake light to come on. So I was talking with the maintenance guy at Saturn and he said I should tap into the back where the brake lights are. He said that someone he knew drilled a hole into the sheet metal and tapped into it from there then siliconed it back. Not sure I want to go through all that trouble. So you're saying that you have tapped the blue wire and thats the one to your brake lights. Does it come on automatically for you when your lights come on in the evenings???

The directions were confusing to me at first, but they are correct. Make sure that you cut far enough into the harness to get to the dark brown wire that is covered in rubber. Its there, you just have to cut farther into the harness than "seems right." It sounds to me like you have the wrong dark brown wire.
