XM antenna/Onstar

OK, well since I finally got my baby, I was looking around again at the posts about the radio installs, I'm going to install the D3 as well but was wondering if anyone has tapped the stock antenna yet so taht we don't need a secondary antenna fro the XM radio

Goal:
Avic D3
bluetooth module
retain steering controls
retain Onstar
XM radio
GPS
no visible changes to car except the HU itself.

I'm pretty sure i got the list of materials right, just really want to tap that factory antenna

I think the stock radio XM system gets its reception from the ONSTAR antenna.

OnStar has a seperate module that over rides the radio when it is in use even though you can adjust volume using the radio controls. Not really sure you can split the signal since the speakers are used during any OnStar communications.

I know there is seperate programming for the radio and IF a radio has to be replaced that has OnStar and the vehicle has XM, both divisions have to reactivate their part with the new radio ID. Was a complete pain when my stock radio had to be replaced in my Ion RL.

And as far as the steering wheel controls, I'm not sure if those are programmed with the radio programming or the body control module or if they are programmed to communicate with one another along with the signals from radio signal, OnStar and XM through the one antenna. I remember it took GM a couple of model years to get the antenna working to accept all signals so there weren't multiple antennas on the roof which they were doing prior to the current setup which is digital and not analog.

Not a good picture, but you can barely see the XM & Navi antennas on top of the vents. They get perfect reception under the plastic dash piece. Just be sure to use the piece of metal that comes w/ them. (Can't remember if it came w/ the HU or XM)
