I broke it!!!!! Can it be fixed?
I was putting my windrestrictor in for a quick run last week and while installing it, I cracked it at the mount that is farthest to the driver's side of the car - literally I broke the end of the windrestrictor off at the middle of the mount. I am sure it was my fault - I think I had over-torqued one of the mounting screws while trying to get it seated.
Anyway, is there anyway to fix this? The crack isn't visible with the deck lid down, so if there was just a way to hold the end on, that would be great. |

i would go over to homedepot and get some quick set 5 min. epoxy. I assume you cracked the actual plexiglass? If so, it will keep cracking with vibrations and wind stress unless you reinforce the crack. Epoxy should do it.
If you broke a chunk off...epoxy should also do the trick.

Yes, if it is not visible, you can use Weld-on. It is an adhesive made for bonding plexi.
IPS Weld-On 16 Cement: TAP Plastics It will show a line but will be strong! |

AN epoxy will work but not as well as an acrylic solvent. Epoxy will bond like glue, were acrylic solvent actually melts the plexi together for a stronger, less visible line!
This is from a plexi web site: Acrylic Solvent: Done properly, an acrylic solvent can be used to bond two pieces of acrylic such that the resulting piece is essentially a single seamless piece of acrylic. However, it is difficult to properly apply solvent to repair a crack as opposed to joining separate pieces of acrylic. In addition, acrylic solvent is really nasty stuff. An easy to find brand of appropriate acrylic solvent is IPS Weld-on #3 or #4. We used this stuff at my job to join 1/2" thick plexi together to make a fish tank. It is so strong that it is holding 30 gallons of water for over a year now. You need nothing else, trust me. |
